How to get air brush effect

    I got an air brush effect totally by accident and now I don't know how to get it again.

    My sequence was
    I clicked the new layer then clicked the marquee tool and made an oval.
    The I went to the paint bucket tool and clicked in the oval. It filled the oval but gave it an airbrush effect towards the edge. I had meant it to just fill it in but I like the airbrush effect and now I cant for the life of me work out how it happened!!
    I've added a pick of the effect it gave me . Any ideas? Im using pse

    Your marquee tool would have had a feather set to it; in the option bar you can tell it how much to feather. Typically it is set to 0, which gives you a hard edge; the higher the number, the more speckle-y the selection is at the outer edge.

    Thank you! I was trying to find a setting with the paint bucket I never though to look at the marquee tool settings!
