so. now that things are all worked out.. and seeming better..and we never actually backed out of the apartment.. I'm back on paint duty. BF is going to pay all of februarys rent bc.. you know, this was his doing We'll have the month to get the place all lovely like we want and move in in March. We're picking up the keys TOMORROW. ACK. DIES... he wants to paint connors room like.. this weekend, bc we bought him a brand new bedroom set and he wants to get it delivered asap. I can not do this paint picking thing! I spend 1/2 of my designing time just being indecisive about colours.. nevermind a paint colour that i'm going to have to stare at every day. He still won't let me get the little sample cans and swoosh paint on the walls.. so i'm sitting here again.. with a new stack of paint cards from the store. This will be the death of me folks. Goodbye world.
oh I love to paint, but not with a roller!! Drives my hubs crazy, but I do huge rooms with different brushes...and I swoon at colors!! swoon to paint reds, and wild blues, but white?? shoot me quick
Ack! Have you looked on Pinterest? Try searching boy room paint colors on there? The one tip I can give you is if you're worried it's too bold, half tone it. All the color, half the risk.
i'm very very worried about the colours being too bold. Connor wants a green.. and everything he picks is blinding. it's a small room-- it's going to be terrible.. LOL not that i'm doing better on my bedroom.. i've narrowed my colour pile down to 20 -.-
I'm really into doing accent walls lately. I love bold colors, but I don't want to overwhelm the room, so I'll do one wall with the fun color (and I usually pick the wall that isn't the main focus and will be partly covered up with furniture) and then I do the other walls in a lighter coordinating color.
Can you paint the ceilings? Maybe do a light sage on the walls and a slightly bolder/darker color on the ceiling?
the ceiling might be cool.. i've been trying to decide if an accent wall would work.. It's all stressing me out and making me freeze instead.. LOL. I'll ask the bf what he thinks about doing the ceiling.
Paint just ONE wall the blinding color and keep the other ones a very light neutral. that is what all the designers at HGTV do.
I agree, just one wall. Especially if it's a super bright color. You could maybe even do stripes or something to tone that wall down even further.
I agree with Pinterest/Google the colors you are considering. It helps a ton to see it up on a wall. Having said that, my daughter's room is Turquoise on the bottom and Lime green on the top (chair rail). It's too bright for me, but she LOVES it.
i've been googling and pinteresting (erm?) and going on houzz.. apparently the colours he is picking only like 2 people on the planet dare paint a room in those colours.. or i just really suck at searching lol
I love all the gray tones from Benjamin Moore, they also have a lot of other colors. If you do a Benjamin Moore search on pinterest you can see a lot of examples Also, what about doing a wallpaper on a wall instead of a different color? Lots of fun wallcolors these days!
lol.. unfortunately he was there when she said "any colour is fine.. except black and red" .. crap man!
2nd the stripes on the accent wall! No joke I think the colors of the forum on TLP (i.e. the headings such as "Today 11:57" and the lighter one where there is "new posts" and "User CP") would work, at least on my screen!
My DS is 15 and we painted his room last summer gray and "blinding green"! We did the one wall in green and the rest gray...it looks fun and funky and very teen boy! I'll see if i can get a pix
ok here's the pix! Here's his room ( and ya i didn't bother straightening it lol)- put some sunglasses on hahahah- but it really is kinda fun
that makes me feel a little less spazzed about the bright green val.. lol.. ty. maybe it will work ^__^
