Since my kitchen crap almost made me forget to post this... lol Do you do your own handy work? Does your dh? Or do you hire it all out? I actually LOVE doing home improvement stuff. I just have to do it when my dh isn't home. He is not handy and we do not work well together. So, I try to do most of it when he's at work or out of town. Today I'm moving an outlet, patching a hole where the intercom used to be, and installing a pantry cabinet. Hopefully.
Hubby and I work pretty well together, and we do most basic stuff on our own. Our gas range isn't working and leaking gas right now, and we're not touching that...the guy's coming today (I hope...or else we'll starve). We've built decks, poured concrete for front porch, refinished cabinets, etc etc. I like working on the house.
We both like to do our own improvements, unless it requires big equipment that we don't have or know how to run. But usually when it comes down to it, we never have the time to finish anything, so in the last few years, we've been just writing the checks.
We too like to do our own home improvements unless it is something way out of our scope. To me it feels good to say hey look we did this.
Rehab is not my friend. Hubs is good at it, but becomes distracted too easily to accomplish things within a reasonable timeframe. We rent, so right now it's a moot point, but when we get our own place, there will be many a discussion of tasks having to be completed or they will be outsourced.
Hubby and I build our own homes, so I'll just say we're pretty handy. He's a lot more handy than me, but I think we make a pretty good pair!
DH and I do the handy work, or it doesn't get done. Surprisingly, we actually work well together. This year, we've built a fence and put together a backyard playset without any fighting or arguing. There were a few utterings of "I told you so," but nothing too serious. He also fixed our oven, patched up some plumbing and changed the brake pads on our car. I married a very handyman.
