Well, we've spent a lot of time in the pool today but after an hour I think it was time to come out and relax and then we'd go back in.

What would be a good time limit in the pool for children....ages 2-7?

we go to the beach here. they call break every hour. so, the kids swim 50 min and have a 10 min break each hour. we usually stay about 3 or 4 hrs. (depending if my youngest melts or not)

My kids are mostly over it after about an hour. Thankfully. My daughter would stay in all day, but she's 13 and 5'8" and it's a 4 ft deep pool, so I feel ok leaving her unattended mostly. :P

Our pool has pool checks/breaks every hour for 10 minutes also. We normally don't stay more than a couple hours, but that is usually because of me, lol. The kids would be happy to stay for hours if I let them, I just can't watch 5 kids in the water (I'm constantly counting heads and looking back and forth at each of them) for that long without going nutty!

We don't swim more than an hour - an hour and a half during the day. When I go during the day, I have kids that are ages 16,12,9,8, and 3.

We stay at the pool between 2-3 hours depending on if we pack a lunch and the kids are all getting along~

Huh... I never thought about setting a limit to swim time. I guess that's because we live by Lake Michigan and you basically swim until you turn blue and then you just naturally take a break (to thaw out) LOL! :)

no time limit here - they just get out when they're done.... or they have mandatory mommy-get-out once every 1.5-2hrs to dry and get more sunscreen. little ones (the 2-7 age range) don't usually naturally last longer than 1-2hrs anyway, though.

We don't do time limits either but they can swim in the morning time and then in the evening time. I don't like for them to be swimming in the mid-day because we have no trees, and therefore no shade, around our pool and I do not want them getting a bad burn. We use lots of sunscreen but I still don't like that mid-day period.

We didn't have a limit when we were kids. We belonged to the town pool with a big group of friends and I swear the adults made sure we all knew how to swim so that we'd go in the pool and leave them alone! :) The only time we had to stay out of the water was after we ate.

I agree that a break every hour for younger children is a good idea. My kids are in the pool a lot, but they are a bit older.
