yes i said the **S** word - that's the mildest of words i've used today when looking at myself in my laptop monitor's reflection!? :hissy

anyway, my battery died on my laptop. so they wanted to charge me $149 for a new one (in addition to selling me a ridiculous extended software warranty - uh, the extended warranty on hardware didn't cover what i needed it to, so why exactly would i buy that??). meh. i ordered a new battery on ebay for $100 less AND added more RAM to my order (DARN on that one).

now, i'm having the age-old debate with myself, though, over just getting a whole new laptop (this is only 2yrs old) and upgrading to an .... wait for it .... apple. but then i'd also have to get all new software which i'm not sure i want to stomach (and be FORCED to use PS all the time! :whistle).

I went through this last year, and I ended up with an Asus laptop. I just wasn't ready to put out that much more money for an Apple and then new software...AND having to learn a new program. I was also buying 3 more laptops for Christmas gifts, so that's probably why I wasn't into spending that much more money! LOL!

I really loved my Dell laptop though...but it did have the problem of running HOT...for the full 4 years I used it!

Hmmm yah I just tossed my Dell down the inheritance line and got a nice new purty Apple.

My Dell's ran very hot and we had to replace a battery on one just after Xmas.

    Apple! Apple! Apple!

:throwpc and get a Mac. :giggle

Seriously though, I am so in love with my iMac. I went Mac about 7 years ago and I would never go back to PC. I've even converted my whole family! I know Macs are more of an investment, but IMO it is SO worth it. Especially when you're doing design work. You just can't beat the creative experience you get on a Mac.

If you are considering it, check into the software thing....I think (at least with Adobe CS) you can get upgrade prices when you switch from PC to Mac instead of having to buy the full product all over again.

Ooooh apple all the way. My apple died almost 3 months ago and I am beyond depressed about it. I use my husbands Hp laptop to scrap on and it is just not the same. You will love a Mac. And the macbook pros are oh sooooooo puuuurdy.. :) good luck with your decision and sorry to hear about you laptop. :(

I used to have a Dell and ugh! It became an absolute nightmare and so went It needed to be replaced, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a MAC. It took some time getting used to but I've had it for a few years now and have had no problems whatsoever. Definetly a biased opinion...they are not cheap and change sometimes can be daunting. All depends wether or not you think it's the right change for you at this point. I would def look into the whole PS thing though, there may be a worth while option :D

My Dell laptop always ran hot too. I also had to buy the expensive new battery for it once. When it finally crashed & burned (after about 3 years) I bought an Asus like Debra. I have had the Asus now for over a year & it has been great (the crash was from a virus not related to the computer). It runs cool & fast (the Dell was slow too). I looked at Apple but for what I wanted (memory, size, etc) I couldn't justify the jump in price. I do however, still want a nice big Mac with a 27" screen someday.... :)

upgrade to an apple you say? i won't peer pressure in that category...

but i am super sorry for all the headache and heartache over your laptop. it's always a tough decision to either put more money in or upgrade. good luck with your decision making... and back to that lack of peer pressure thing. i'll be here if you need help!

Well you can probably guess my answer since I am an advocate for "Get a New Computer" and call it good.

But yes, I think you should get one.
And yes I think it should be an Apple.
And yes, I think it's high time you kick PSP to the curb for good and become a PS only girl.

    Monogamy is hot.

P.S. I think this whole debacle was a sign. :giggle

I'm totally on your page girly, I have had NUMEROUS dell's in my household and everytime i get one I regret it. The lifespan for my computers are like 1 1/2 years it's pathetic really. The only reason why I haven't gotten an apple is because I use psp and can't get used to PS

I have a dell now, but it was rebuilt for me. If I had the money, I'd definitely go with Apple. I'd make Heather help me, lol!

translation: i would cook anything heather asked me to while she set up my computer. and then i would probably give her a foot rub. after washing my hands from raw chicken.

That translation is totally accurate. :)
Though, I'd probably make Colton and Destiny rub your feet while I cook. ;)

Add me to the list of people who have been screwed by Dell and then moved over to Apple! Good luck deciding!

next, though, apple. i've decided that. now tis just a matter of time.

Spoke too soon. I must have a virus or something that no scans can pick up... It ran great for about 15 min the literally died. Not even blue screen, total death. Argh. So now to see if I can keep it alive long enough to harvest the data.
