Has anyone tried the latest product by Totally Rad, RadLab? They have a free trial and I've been using it for a few days now. I love the concept, because instead of running actions (a process I really hate because most of the times I end up running an action just to find out it wasn't the right look for that photo, and repeating this step over and over until I find the one I wanted), you get an instant preview of the result. The video here shows how it work pretty well.

Have you tried it? What are your impressions? So far, I am loving it, but it is really pricey for me - considering I paid $200 for the student version of CS5, spending $150 just to do photo editing is not justifiable. But I guess I'll see what kind of discount they offer for Black Friday, if any.

And to move the discussion to a more general topic - how do you feel about photo editing? Do you love using actions? Do you end up using the same 2-3 actions over and over? For me, I really don't enjoy photo editing, I consider it a necessary evil; I always use the same 2 actions, but now that I've been using RadLab I have been branching out a bit more and I've been having fun with it.

I was wondering about rad lab. I purchased actions from them before and they are really good- but expensive. I signed up for the trial, but never rec'd it. Need to go look into that now....

I have been using their trial and have been loving it. It makes mixing and matching a cinch. They do have a black Thursday sale every year - it's usually 25% off I think (if I remember correctly).

TRA are some of the only actions I use on a regular basis so I bought RadLab. It is well worth the money! The preview option alone is worth it, although Florabella has that now, you run one action and it shows you what each effect would look like on your photo...that's a huge timesaver when you aren't sure what to do with your photos!

NO way!! Florabella has an instant preview too??
Where, where?? Can you link me up?
I have 3 of her sets and LOVE them.

I'm off to try the Rad Lab trial too.
I have a couple of their sets... but the Rad Lab preview looks so amazing.

i've tried the radlab trial and i, uhm, didn't like it. the plug in totally messed up my PS and made it actually lag while switching tools (and not to mention switching layers!!). i only have 4 gb memory, i guess that's the problem, but any how!

i have all the totally rad actions and loving them. i would never purchase the lab if i had any of the actions sets. i personally thinks it's a little overrated :P

i just keep a preview of the actions in a folder so i'll easily see what action i want to use :)

I've seen RadLab and wondered about how it worked and how everyone liked it. I have all the TRA action sets, so to "purchase" them again doesn't make sense to me. But I would love to try it and just see what it's like.

I have the Florabella one too, is it "try & combine"? Maybe that's something different.

I'm a little bit of an action hoarder. :)

I downloaded the RadLab trial & when I tried to run it my computer crashed. Not good. I haven't tried it again. I wish I could try it because I hate how much trouble I have remembering what certain actions do (like with Florabella's long list). I know she included the try & combine feature but that is still cumbersome to me to click the button on & off to show what the action did then remember which one I liked! I totally sound like I am whining here, huh? lol.

I have not tried it. I have a ton of Myfourhens actions but I tend to go back to the same sets alot. The preview option sounds cool, but too pricey for me to buy the full version

Just downloaded the free trial and now I totally NEED it. It's as amazing as I thought it would be. Waiting to see what the black friday sale will be. That's how I bought their actions.

RadLab has nowhere near the capabilities of LR. To me LR is a tool and RadLab is for fun. I will say that there aren't many presets that I like for LR but it's a beast of an editing program on it's own.

I think she was talking about the "try them all" in the Florabella set. It gives you each action in one go flattened as layers so you can see what you like and then you can go and run that action on your photo and tweak if you want.

I have RadLab and love it. It works great on my computer and haven't had much problems. I think upgrading to Lion and iPhoto 11 is what did me in. Anyway, that is another story. Back to RadLab, it makes my editing process so much faster. I love that you can save your favorite recipes. It is so much easier than actually running all the different actions because you use it as a filter instead.

:yesss I got an email that Totally Rad is going to have a Black Friday sale!

I don't have any of their products and am thinking about it - would there be any reason at this point to go for one of the action sets rather than RadLab now that it exists?
