OK, I want one of those little chalkboards I keep seeing in some of your photos! No, wait, I NEED one! School starts on Tuesday! Where can I find one?
I cheated for Seth's and just cut my shape out of cardboard and painted it black...not even black chalkboard paint...just regular black acrylic....but when you write on it with the chalk it looks like a chalkboard. I did it that way because A, I'm cheap lol and B I know he will want to play with it and do whatever 4 year old boys do to their things and this way he can ruin it and it's literally no loss to me because it cost me nothing to make
ohhh yes, super cuteness! ya, should be really easy to find! did you see that big polaroid frame made out of foam board???? i so want to do that!
my husband made mine. we used MDF. i drew out the shape he cut them out and i painted with chalkboard paint. easy and fast. if you dont' have a hand dandy husband. i say just run to the wood or hobby store. see what you can find. hobby lobby has tons of flat surfaces. you can even just use cardboard or matt board! a wooden tray, or metal anything. chalkboard paint, paints on ANY surface. the stuff is wicked awesome! home stores like home depot will even cut your wood for you. so like if you find 12x6 and only want a bit of it, they'll cut it there. i think. or they use to. good luck. we've used our little chalkboards TONS since i had my husband make them for me. he made me a heart, a quote bauble, and the rounded edge rectangle.
Yes, I found mine at Michaels. In the wood crafts section. I was prepared with a back up plan just in case they didn't have one. Back up plan = cutting a bit of board and painting the surface with chalkboard paint. I knew I wanted something I could replicate every year and so I fell in love with the chalkboard idea. ♥
do you have a scroll saw? MDF is the EASIEST and smoothest material to cut through. it's messy though. super dusty. LOL only draw back. is that sheets of MDF are huge. LOL home depot might cut them first for you. but we had to run it through the table saw, then use the scroll saw.
Me, too! But mine was $3.99. My older kid dropped it on the driveway pavers right off the bat and chipped the corner of the frame, but we still used it.
You can still do it! It doesn't have to be the actual first day of school to use these. Just put the grade on them.
