I had a recent Bridal Shower, and this weekend I have a Baby Shower. (And after last week, we are still getting rain showers!)

Do you have a favorite of the two?
What gifts do you like to give?
    Any memorable games?

I think I don't have a preference of baby or bridal... but more so who is there, and who I can catch up with.
I like to give a theme... for bridal - frames, memorabilia or kitchen items. For Baby... all eating items, or all fun toys.
I once played a game at a baby shower, and we had to smell baby food and guess the kind. It was memorable, cause i remember it being stinky! haha!

My favorite game at my own bridal shower was like a questionnaire. My sister, the host, had asked my husband the questions ahead of time and during the game we all had to answer twice, first for me, and then guess what my husband said, both for me and for him. So it was fun to see how well we knew each other.

I haven't gone to either in at least 15 years. I recall a baby shower with a quiz of fairy tales. I aced that, so that was super fun.

Do you have a favorite of the two? I think I prefer baby showers more because it seems like there are presents they the families actually need. Wedding showers these days it seems like the couple doesn't really need or want anything except money and that's not as fun. Lol.

What gifts do you like to give? For baby showers (depending on the mom) I love to get them the supplies to make homemade baby wipes. I used them exclusively for both of my boys and they were so much better than store bought!

Any memorable games? One baby shower they had a bunch of diapers with melted candy bars inside (looked like poo :giggle) and we had to inspect the melt mess and guess what kind of candy bars they were. Lol.

It has probably been 30 years since I've been to either type of shower! The last shower of either kind that I remember were both for the same friend. Her daughter was born in 1997 and they had the shower after she was born since Pam was on bed rest for 3 months before her birth. Her wedding shower was in 1991.

In Dad's family, the cousins kids that are getting married don't invite the cousins of the parents... there are too many of us.

In Mom's family, 3 of my cousins have had kids get married (5 in total). The one was 3 hours away so they decided not to invite me but I did give a gift to my cousin for her daughter. The 2 daughters of another cousin also lived out of town so didn't invite the extended family. And, the oldest that has 2 children lived in Minnesota when they were born. Both daughters live in Florida now and got married there so no wedding invite either since both were smaller weddings. For the 2 sons of another cousin I just sent gifts when they got married. No shower invites that I remember for either wedding or baby.

I like to give cloth diapers, diaper pins and a couple of "rubber" pants, along with diaper rash medicine, baby wipes, baby shampoo and lotion, a package of larger sized disposable diapers, and a couple of fave board books.

I love using cloth diapers as burp towels and to wipe up baby messes. They also come in handy if you run out of disposables.

For bridal shower I used to give a trash can filled with kitchen utensils ... can opener, bottle opener, spatula, measuring spoons and cups, towels, wash rags, etc.

Probably baby showers. They always seem a little more fun.

What gifts do you like to give?
Baby - I usually do a toy, an outfit, and diapers. Bridal - I usually do a gift card or some kind of home decor.

    Any memorable games?
They played Diaper Pong at the baby shower I went to this past weekend. It was cute. They also had scratch off tickets for prizes.

I'm needing to prepare a bridal shower gift for Tuesday night (from my daughter to a friend) - and ugh things are so expensive it feels like a nothing gift but is already pricey. It's on their registry, so what they want but all it is is measuring cups for $40 already... now to fill it in to make it not seem like a $15 present. She can't afford to give much more since will have the wedding present too. Ideas welcome as she's tasked me to this since she's at a bachelorette party this weekend. LOL
