Do you celebrate Mother's Day? When do you celebrate Mother's Day? What do you do? Does your family treat you?
Do you celebrate Mother's Day? Yes but nothing too fancy. When do you celebrate Mother's Day? May - May 11th (tomorrow) this year What do you do? Does your family treat you? Sometimes a lunch out with just my mum, sometimes a family lunch, the last few years we've gathered at my grandmother's care home before going to a cafe for afternoon tea.....that's not happening now for obvious reasons so not sure how we will cope with the firsts without her. Given I'm the lowest (well second lowest) in the family tree, no treats for me, I'm the one giving the treats!
Do you celebrate Mother's Day? Yes When do you celebrate Mother's Day? This year, it's tomorrow. As always, it basically sneaks up on me. What do you do? Does your family treat you? We spoil my mom as best we can. A few years back, we took her on a glass-bottom boat ride at Silver Springs State Park. My family means well and wants to treat me but they're not so great at it. I'm sure my mom will try to keep my son tonight so my husband can take me out early but that just means MORE work for me to do to figure out where to go, get a last-minute reservation, etc.
Sadly, no. The last Mother's Day I celebrated was 29 years ago in 1996. Little did I know it would be the last.
Do you celebrate Mother's Day? It's pretty low key, no big celebration or anything... I like it that way. When do you celebrate Mother's Day? Tomorrow...May 11 What do you do? Does your family treat you? I usually go to visit my mom at some point. I'm taking her flowers and donuts. My oldest son and his family will probably come by at some point, but I'll probably go see my daughter so she doesn't have to drag the new baby out. The only treat I really like is having some time to myself
Do you celebrate Mother's Day? Yes When do you celebrate Mother's Day? May (11th this year) What do you do? Does your family treat you? Got Cafe Rio for lunch then Starbucks pink drinks today with my kids. DH insisted on buying me something to eat even though I said no a thousand times so he took me Walmart shopping to buy Pop Tart ice cream sandwiches (grabbed some freeze dried Jolly Rancher candies too). My oldest wanted to buy me something so DH took her to Target; can't wait to find out what it is tomorrow! My second volunteered to cook or bake something for me so I said she could cook for me with DH tomorrow or bake snickerdoodle cookies. Tomorrow we'll go to church in the morning and my whole family will be helping the children with me so I'm excited for that. After church we'll have my parents over for lasagna dinner. I don't like to cook ever but especially on Mother's Day so I bought frozen lasagna to throw in the oven. Then my mom is having us all over for homemade ice cream.
Do you celebrate Mother's Day? Yes When do you celebrate Mother's Day? What do you do? Does your family treat you? We actually celebrated today (Saturday, May 10th). My daughter and son arranged to come over and prepare brunch. My daughter came on her own so her husband could do things with his mom. My son brought his wife and two sons. We all got a chance to visit and have family time. This way my DIL gets to have her special day tomorrow. Tomorrow my husband and I will probably order dinner to be delivered so I don't have to cook.
Do you celebrate Mother's Day? Yes, we do. When do you celebrate Mother's Day? It will be tomorrow, May 11th. What do you do? Does your family treat you? We have a potluck brunch at our house with my mom, my daughter and her family and her hubby's parents too. We used to go out for brunch but with three little ones, its just too complicated right now.
I celebrated my mom by wearing one of her sweatshirts yesterday when I went hiking. And I got a nice surprise in the woods: I saw someone had carved her initials into a tree! I mean, I know they weren't for her, but they were the correct letters, so of course it made me think of her. I've never cared a lot about holidays and don't have much of an expectation to be celebrated on a particular date. Daily/regular interactions are much more important to me. So far today I've chatted with my one child who is awake (studying for their last final) and texted my other two, who I'm sure I'll hear from later.
Mother's Day is always the last Sunday of May in Sweden, this year it will be the 25th. We don't celebrate it though. I didn't have a good relationship with my mother. And I guess you all know me by now: I boycott all special days and holidays. They're all too commercialized for my taste.
Not a huge thing here (despite retailers determination to make it so!) and not something we really do anything special for in my family. I will usually email a 'card' to my mum, but this year she flew to meet us in another city for my youngest's graduation, so I was able to pick her up at the airport, give her a hug and say 'happy Mother's Day'. I got a whatsapp 'Happy Mother's Day" from the eldest and the youngest saw it and chimed in. I do wish that when they were younger their father would have got them to make cards for me, as I did for father's day, but it never happened, he would never even remember it was Mother's Day. ;-)
Yes, we celebrated today. Every year I have two requests: first, that my husband takes pictures of me with the kids, both as a group and one on one shots. And second, that my kids go on a hike with me. Anything else is just a bonus! My daughter made a card and they all signed it, and my husband got flowers, and they all cooked dinner and cleaned it up.
Very lowkey here. My son tm'd me from Japan (he's there for work) on Saturday afternoon as it was Sunday morning there. Then yesterday my granddaughter tm'd me. In the evening I took all three GKs out to eat to celebrate Will's 30th b'day. It was last Monday, but he was out of town last weekend ... thankfully the hamburger joint he likes wasn't crowded at all. Tried to get a photo of the three GKs, but Will refused ...
My xDH's attitude was that I wasn't his mother, so it wasn't his job to make sure my kids (his step-kids) got me a card/gift ... but he expected a father's day gift. One of the many reasons he's now my xDH, LOL!!!
My weekend was soooo good! My sister and I went to Park City Utah - a lovely ski resort town on Saturday and spent the night and then we went to the Broadway show Wicked in Salt Lake for Mother's Day. The show was absolutely fantastic. Loving the start of my week so far. Hope you all have a great day.
My youngest took me to our favorite Hawaiian plate lunch place, my daughter sent a lovely gift card to a fancy restaurant, and I spent a long time on the phone with my oldest yesterday (Sunday, May 11th). A very sweet Mother's day. I also got a text from my ex husband, their dad, on Monday saying, Hope it was a good Mother's Day-thanks for being the mother. LOL...he does crack me up. And he did mean it in a nice way. We always acknowledge the important days still. It means a lot.
Do you celebrate Mother's Day? Yes When do you celebrate Mother's Day? My sister and i normally take my mother out to a fancy dinner. My kids will get me flowers or small gifts. The grandkids get me homemade presents
We have Mothering Sunday in March. It's traditional to give mothers flowers/chocolates/home made gift and a card. We normally spend the afternoon with my mum. At church in the morning we pray for mothers, and the children hand out gifts to all the women in the church. (We do something similar for the men on Father's day).
Do you celebrate Mother's Day? Yes! When do you celebrate Mother's Day? I follow the day it's celebrated in the US. Typically a Sunday in May. What do you do? Does your family treat you? Usually brunch and a nice dinner. This year I chose a gift that my boys could contirbute to
