Love Our Designers | March 13 Sahlin Studio is our Daily Crush! You've got the drill by now. This isn't a traditional CHALLENGE in that there aren't any real rules. We only ask that you scrap with the featured designer! It’s a fun event to encourage you to scrap with products from a fave designer or try a new (to you) designer. It’s all about having fun and celebrating the uniqueness of all of our Lilypad Designers! Today is our day to celebrate the fabulous designer Krista Sahlin of Sahlin Studio! I hope you join me in admiring fantastic designs and spend some time creating with her products and sharing the love in the gallery. She has generously offered a sale on her products today only - be sure to take advantage of this! I love Sahlin Studio! Long, long ago before she was designing, we connected over a shared spelling of a less common first name, daughters the same age, and the Midwest while becoming friendly through the gallery at another community. She participated in a new designer contest there and took off as a new designer! No wonder, since her clean and colorful designs are incredibly versatile, geared to both boys and girls, holidays and seasons, and full of Project Mouse fun too! I was on her original creative team, so an original cheer leader, and I'm forever grateful that I found The Lilypad when she moved her store here early in her career! Life interrupted and she hasn't been releasing products very often, but her classic products hold up - She was ahead of her time. I still hope she finds herself creative making kits again! Fun Fact: I mispronounced her last name in my head for years... one day I spoke to her on the phone and she said "Sahlin Studio" and I heard her say "SAY-lene Studio" and I was like... "WAIT WHAT?! I've been saying it wrong all this time." And she said, "It happens ALL the time!" So if you too have been saying SAWH-lin it's time to correct if you can retrain the brain HAHA Krista Sahlin is the designer behind Sahlin Studio. I love Krista's designs, have been hoarding them for years, including some of the Disney themed, even though I am not at all Disney orientated. Just felt like I should have them just in case.
I didn't realize the first kit I chose was a collab with someone so I did another layout with a kit completely by her. Both layouts use templates by her. It's snowing today so I'm scrapping up a storm and staying warm. But here are both layouts!
It was a busy day yesterday, but I made a page today. I can only agree with hoping she will start creating kits again. I love her style, and especially her word art. Treated myself with this kit yesterday - it's been on my wish list for quite a while. I do miss seeing new designs from Krista in store. I have a lot of her products. I think when I started digital scrapbooking I was really drawn to digital products that reflected my paper scrapbooking style, which Krista's designs did. I'm ashamed to say that I've not used many of her kits for some time, but playing along with LOD made me fall back in love again with her products. I used bits from lots of her kits on my page.
