Hi friends! I love to link to videos in my layouts, but it seems impossible to find free QR Code generators anymore. I have also discovered that some of the QR codes I have generated in past layouts no longer work.

    My question is two-fold:

    1. What QR code generator do you like to use and do you pay a monthly fee to use it?

    2. What do you do when codes in printed pages from the past no longer work?

I appreciate any help or guidance!

I scrapbook using the Affinity Software, and a QR code generator is included with the custom shapes

I've started using qrstuff.com and haven't had to pay anything. I just download the basic black pngs.

I have colored over old codes with black permanent marker or put stickers over them. I'd like to update them with new QR code stickers but I'm not that far yet. I've started including the link along with the QR code in case the code stops working.

    Hope this helps!

    1. I use the QR Code Maker app on my iPhone to create my codes, it’s totally free but I don’t know if it’s still available.
    2. I have printed new codes on white paper and taped over.

I have been using qrstuff.com for the last few years. I didn't realize they expire either - now I need to go back and test my old layouts!

I just realized all my QR codes from qrstuff.com have a one month expiration so all the ones in my newly printed book no longer work. Ugh! I’m covering them with white labels and only using links in the future. I don’t want to pay $25/month (or any amount) for my QR codes to not expire.

Another update - I used qr.io last year and those codes haven’t expired yet but now I can’t access their website. :-/

Ugh! That’s so frustrating! That happened with some of my codes too.

There used to be such nice free QR code sites, but it seems like they no longer exist. I did find that Adobe Express does QR codes, and I don’t think they expire, but I need to do more digging.

Thanks for following up on this. When this thread first started, my QR Stuff codes were working, but I just went to check them now and see they have also expired. I've been considering getting the Affinity Photo 2 for iPad app, and seeing Angela's tutorial on Affinity QR Codes, that might just be the push I need to bite the bullet. Might even be a win win as I can create QR Codes and also attempt to scrap on the go!

I didn't want everyone to start using QR Stuff and then be disappointed like me!

I use this site - https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/ I've checked back to 2018 and they are still working. According to the site, they don't expire as long as what they link to is still valid. You can pay to create dynamic codes.
But, I am going to try the Adobe one!

I'm going to have to check my older scrapbooks to see if my codes are still working. I didn't pay much attention to what I was using back then. Now I use Adobe and am reasonably secure there.

Thanks for all the warnings about the expiries.
