Do you have siblings? Yes - nine of them! (all from the same two parents)

Where do you fall in the birth order? ninth of ten

Do you have characteristics of your birth order? I don't think birth order theories apply to me LOL

Are you closer to any? Hmm... tbh I am closest to my sister in law who married my second oldest brother. He is 16 years older than me, but she is only 6 years older than me. Between all my siblings, I am closer to some than others but honestly not super close to any of them. I do like them all though! And we see each other fairly often.

Do you have siblings? I have a brother (5 years older) and a sister who passed away in 1999.
Where do you fall in the birth order? The youngest
Do you have characteristics of your birth order? Not really, because my sister was born with spina bifida and required much of my mother's attention, so I didn't get to be the "baby" much.
Are you closer to any? Nope. My brother and I have never lived near each other as adults. Our parents divorced while I was the only one still at home. My dad moved to the east coast shortly after I graduated high school, and my brother followed. We never got together over the years. You sort of learn as the years transpire where you're optional and build your own family.

That's a great way of putting it!!
Only child here too! My mom and grandma on mom's side too. I have cousins on dad's side, but they are 12+ years older than me so we weren't close growing up.

i'm the eldest of 3; my sister is in the middle between me and my brother, and i'm closer to her but they all live 1.5-2ish hrs away so we don't see each other often.
I do relate to these words that i found in google results: reliable, conscientious, structured, cautious, controlling and achiever and there was something about being the carer - but i also procrastinate and whinge and stuff but it does explain a bit why i like research and data for decisions and problem solving etc which seems counterproductive to leader type personalities as it slows down any kind of leader stuff to me.

(Curious/ Ignore me if too nosy: Did being an only child motivate you in anyway to have 2 kids? my mum was one of 3 kids, and she had 3 obviously, and i found out she assumed for some reason i'd also have 3 - nope. I remember being squished in the backseat on long car trips well enough to think 2 was enough for a standard car and both pregnancies were really rough so there was no way DH or I were up for a third even though DS asked for a brother for a few years!)

I have 51 cousins on my dad's side of the family. I actually ran into one of them in Wal-Mart within the last 10 years and didn't recognize her. She recognized me and when she told me her name I knew she was my cousin. It had been probably 20 years since I had seen her. Some of those cousins I only see at family funerals these days. I've actually never met 3 of my cousins. They grew up in New Hampshire (I'm in OH) and their parents divorced and the girls stayed with their mom. They are also much younger than me. My uncle remarried and I have met his 2 children by his 2nd wife.

That's how I was closer to my Aunt on my Dad's side. He had 7 brothers and sisters... mis youngest sister was only 10 years difference to me... so when I went to high school... some of the teachers were like... Another one? HOW? It was funny. (Also silly thing... my dad and his siblings all had names that started with J... and I was Jenn, so they really thought I was the oops baby!)

Yes, the generations tend to blend together in big families - my oldest nephew is only 8 years younger than me, and only 4 years younger than my younger sister.
I went to high school with a girl and boy in my class who were aunt & nephew, same age!

My oldest cousin on Dad's side is 4 months older than Dad's youngest brother. Because of the months they were born in, they may have been in different grades. And, the cousin had a different last name so that wouldn't have been an immediate flag for connection by others.

My great-grandmother had a couple of kids younger than her oldest grandchildren. I can never remember if she had 12 children with 11 surviving to adulthood, or if it was 11 with 10 surviving. Funny thing is none of those kids had big families of their own ... most had 2-4. My grandmother had 3, but her firstborn only lived 2 hours. And Mom's sister was 7 years younger, although I guess there could have been a miscarriage or two in between the two of them.

In researching my great-grandmother's family once I finally found her parents, I found something like what you mention. My great-grandmother (Grace) shows up in the 1900 census with her mother (Anna), a brother (Frank) and 2 sisters (Icey and Hazel). Grace was born in 1883 so that was the 1st census she would be on. The 1880 census does have Anna with her husband E.H. I found probate birth records for Icey (1880), Frank (1882) and Hazel (1889). When I found Anna's obituary I found that her birth name was Phoebe Ann (and then found her birth family). It also said that she was the mother of 7 children but only the 4 were known. I did find a probate birth record of a "unknown name" boy in 1888 but no other records. Evidently there were 2 miscarriages and the "unknown" birth. We always wondered why there was a big gap between Grace and Hazel. Miscarriages and the "unknown" birth would explain that.

Another interesting thing about Anna. Since we didn't know her parents, we had no idea what her maiden name was. Turns out it was the same as her married name (Wren). More research lead to the conclusion that Phoebe Ann and E.H. (Edwin Harvey) were 1st cousins. Unfortunately we have no information as to what happened to E.H. Just last year I was able to find out what happened to Grace's siblings. Grace was the only one to have children, my grandmother and her brother. Icey never married (died young age 23 of typhoid fever), Frank married but no children, Hazel married but no children and died young (age 27 of tuberculosis). Grace died of consumption at age 28.

I have 6 siblings, two half brothers, two half sisters and two whole sisters. My two sister closest to me are 3 and 6 years older. My half sisters are from my mothers side, 17 and 18 years older than me and my brothers are from my fathers side and they are 32 and 30 years older than me. I never knew I had the oldest brother until I did a DNA test and found his grand daughter with a big chunk of the same DNA as me. Me and my oldest brother met for the first time a little more than a year ago and we have contact now. All of my both brothers children are older than me, the youngest just a few months older, and my older sisters oldest children are 9 and 10 years younger than me.

I grew up with my whole sisters, my half sisters moved out when I was born but we have always been close. My sisters would probably say I’m the spoiled one, but honestly thats a truth with modification since I was the last one to leave the house, they didn’t really see how much I helped my parents when they were getting older.

I’m closest to my whole sisters and we meet up quite often, but I’m close to my half sisters too. The only one I don’t have contact with is my second half brother.

Fun fact is that of all the cousins (about 25) on my fathers side, my oldest brother is the first and I’m the last.

It’s just me and my sister. She was a SURPRISE!!! There are thirteen years between us. I remember many people thinking she was my child when she was born which just absolutely infuriated my mom. Even tho I left home shortly after she was born, we got along very well and text each other everyday. We seem to like the same sorts o things too and at times even use the same phrases. It’s really weird to me at least. But she is great!! I wish we lived closer to each other.

Do you have siblings? 1 brother (71) currently alive (4 yrs older), and one brother (9 yrs older) passed at age 69
Where do you fall in the birth order? last and only girl!!
Do you have characteristics of your birth order? I am the only girl, a last child who wasn't planned (I was the mistake-my parents didn't plan anymore) I was the princess who much younger got to see so much of teenage years at an early age. I grew up fast and was outgoing. I am more shy now as I am overhadowed by my husband and oldest daughter. I am usually the first to initiate things.
Are you closer to any? I was always closest to my dad and my oldest brother when they were live. My mom died when I was 42. I am always a daddy's girl, and was his caregiver for many years until he passed on. The middle brother lives 800 miles away and we never had a relationship (he is incapable of emotion) and never will. We tolerate each other and I care about him. He never had an attachment to any of the family.
