Today is Cut the Cord Day.
    cord.jpg
We cut the cord years ago and currently only stream with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and Peacock. We get Netflix free through our cell phone plan. I've tried a few others here and there, but I usually check out the free trials and then cancel. Not sure what all I'm missing out on :giggle

    Have you cut the cord?
What streaming services do you use?
    Do you have a favorite?

We cut the cord in 2023.

We use YouTubeTV, Netflix, the Hulu/Disney+/ESPN bundle (hubby is a hockey fan), PrimeVideo and Max. For some reason I haven't been able to figure out, we also get Peacock premium. We are about to resubscribe to Apple TV+ to catch up on some shows and watch the new season of Severence. I may also do a week trial of Mubi to watch The Subtance before the Oscars.

We use YouTubeTV for "regular" channels; Netflix and Max are probably our favorites otherwise.

Have you cut the cord? Nope. Tried it 9 years ago and I only lasted about 6 weeks.
What streaming services do you use? Actually use? Peacock, FoxNation, PlutoTV and YouTube TV
Do you have a favorite? Not really but I use Peacock the most just for The Traitors.

The problem with streaming for me is that I like to have background noise all day long. With the streaming services, they time out on me. I signed up for YouTube TV to see if I would like it enough to cut the cord on my cable (it has some channels my cable does not have that I like). The problem with it is that I can't get the one station I prefer to watch during tornado warnings. The station out of Dayton has much better coverage on my area than the station just 14 miles from me. I can only get the stations from Lima on YouTube TV. But the advantage of YouTube TV is that is has a DVR that I can have my favorites set up to record. Has come in handy since some of my favorite shows air at the same time. So at this time, I still have my cable with YouTube TV as a backup if cable goes out (or when internet is out I at least still have cable!)

Just call me a dinosaur... don't want to give up the old stuff! But at least I cut the cord on a landline phone many years ago. I know a lady that refuses to get a cell phone and only has the land line.

Have you cut the cord? No, but we just have basic cable and a Sports package. The streaming services don't seem to do sports well unless you pay for multiples.
What streaming services do you use? Netflix, Prime, PBS. We've had Crave and Apple TV but only on a trial basis.
Do you have a favorite? No, we seem to switch back and forth.

We stopped using cable TV in 2005. We have FIOS internet though, a different cord!

We've used Netflix the most, since before we stopped cable in 2005, when it was still DVDs sent via USPS. However, we just canceled it this month. I had barely been using it for several years. I prefer to watch YouTube. I've watched one or two shows on Hulu, long ago. That's where I watched the original and second seasons of Handmaid's Tale. I know my husband has used Hulu, Amazon Prime, Google, and probably something else. I don't even know what all is available. I don't care much about t.v. or movies, but my husband is a big movie watcher.

No cable and my tv isn't even hooked up to the terrestial tv services in the UK - I watch everything through streaming. Currently have Prime and Netflix, also Disney which is free at the moment as part of a banking promo. I did have Paramount but recently cut that. I was also going to cut NowTV but they put on a half price offer at point of cutting, but once that's finished I'll be cutting that as well. I think I could have AppleTV as part of another banking promo, but haven't sorted that out yet.

Have you cut the cord? No cable service here. I don't even have a TV right now. Mine died. Been shopping for one, though, because I do have a digital antenna that helps me get the local network stations and some other free broadcasts.

What streaming services do you use? I have YouTube TV, watch on my iPad. I also have Netflix, Disney+ with Hulu, Max through my phone plan, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV. I used to have Peacock, but I'm starting to scale back, just have to figure out which is next. Probably giving up YouTube TV since the NFL season is almost over, but I do love the DVR aspect of it. There are just things I like that are unique to each streaming service that make them hard to give up! But by the same token, there's overlap.

Do you have a favorite? Right now, it's Apple TV for the series I've enjoyed: Shrinking, Silo, Severance, Mythic Quest, Prime Target, Slow Horses.

I am also thinking of doing something like a 6 month rotation on some of the subscription services. So, like 6 months on AppleTV+ and then 6 months off where I save up shows to watch when we resubscribe.

Have you cut the cord? We've started, but haven't gotten far, lol. We pay for fewer premium channels, and we get the Disney bundle free through Verizon (Disney+, Hulu & ESPN+). I agree with Dawn, many services allow you to pay month to month, so it's good to watch out for when you're not using them or to switch off.
What streaming services do you use? Included with other packages: Disney+, Hulu & ESPN+, Prime, and Paramount+. Standalone premiums: Netflix, Apple+, and HBO Max.
Do you have a favorite? It depends on the season :)

We haven't had cable for years. My husband does amazon prime and I think on other streaming service - netflix perhaps? I don't know how to turn on our tv. That sounds silly, but it's hooked up through a fancy stereo system, a media pc, and has a remote that looks like it came from a space station. I don't need to watch tv that much. I watch crafting videos on youtube, though!

(I'm glad this wasn't the placenta or apron string thing I thought from the title!)
    Aussie tv is different.
There's an ever growing amount of free-to-air channels (it's always been free; growing up I only learnt what cable was from the Simpsons & Married with Children that I saw on our normal free to air channels! There was 5 or so back when I was a kid (plus some regional variants) & now there's easily 3 or 4 times that) so it's possible to not pay for any screen based entertainment or news at all. My in-laws don't and won't.

    We watch evening news and your US jeopardy weeknights at dinner time on 'normal ' tv (we're a bit over a month behind, going off when Ken Jennings wishes people happy new year etc)- if you miss something during its normal free to air airing time, you can also stream shows from those free tv channels at your convenience, again no cost except your IP provider costs, (we're catching up on 'Tokyo Vice' atm that someone mentioned here in a thread via one of our free channels web platforms);
but we have Prime because I subscribe to avoid extra Amazon shipping costs & we've been subscribed to Netflix for more than a few years (but it's always been a watered down version of US Netflix so I rarely see shows you guys mention) but we don't get to watch a lot of stuff. The birds 'laugh' along with us when we watch comedies & it really drowns out the sound, lots of pausing & rewinding. Drama is easier but they also love participating in conversations when they hear the tv or someone is talking. Lucky they can't read subtitles

Have you cut the cord? No, reading between the lines the cord is a cable service? We have DStv, an expensive service, but the kids love it for the sport and Strictly come dancing and MasterChef.
What streaming services do you use? We pay for Netflix, You-tube premium, Spotify, DStv, Disney+
Do you have a favorite? I watch on you-tube mostly. I can't get Hallmark because we live outside of the USA, so I catch my rom coms on you-tube.

We haven't cut the cord, mainly since it's super cheap for us. We get high speed internet, phone and all the channels/movies/extras for $120 a month. (This is because we get a discount since DH works for Verizon, our carrier) I also have Peacock, and Amazon. We also use my mom's Netflix. We are down often enough to sign in down there to access/reset then use it when home.

I don't have a favorite, mainly since I really don't watch TV. I read, lol! My subscription for that is Kindle Unlimited.

Have you cut the cord? Yes. It's been 15+ years since we cut the cord so I can't tell you exactly when it happened.
What streaming services do you use? Netflix (we get it free with our mobile phone service), Hulu and Crunchyroll. We also have Prime Video and Paramount+ but we don't use it as often.
Do you have a favorite? I don't think I really do. I wouldn't want to be without any of the three we use regularly.

Have you cut the cord? Yes, about 10 years ago.
What streaming services do you use? Currently Hulu, Peacock, Starz and Netflix. I turn services on and off as I finish up my fav series or a new season starts. I only watch Starz for Outlander and got a year's subscription for $25 recently. I have Peacock mostly for my granddaughter and her boyfriend.
Do you have a favorite? Probably Hulu since it basically replaces "live/on air" TV.

If we had Peacock and Hulu here in Canada I would be happy to cancel our cable. I had Hulu when we had our place in WA and I loved it for the most recent episodes of the mainstream shows. We watch a lot of Netflix, Amazon and Apple Plus. I rotate between a few others. Right now we are watching Paramount but in another month or so may switch over to Britbox for awhile. Some friends have been talking about Vera so am curious to see that on Britbox.

We cut the cord maybe 3-4 years ago I think? I would have done it a LONG time before that, but my hubby "needed" it for sports. Lol. Now he just pays for the MLB package for baseball and then we get YouTube for the months during football and cancel again.

We have so many streaming packages though so we never are without something to watch. We have Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ (free with our cell service) and Apple TV (free with some forum my hubby belongs to) and Paramount+ (also free because of something else). I can't even keep track of most of them and Netflix is the only one we actually pay for. Oh yeah and Prime... but we very rarely watch anything on that one. Netflix is probably our favorite.

I've just cancelled my Apple TV+ sub
There is only one movie coming out soon or maybe already out (The Gorge) I want to watch with hubby and next week I will pause for a while. Just need to save a bit more so I will wait there is something new and worth paying for again in the future.

I tell my husband to cut the cord when he gets a little too clingy with his mom, so I immediately thought of that when I saw your title. I guess that’s not the same.

We have so many streaming platforms it’s crazy. And sometimes I still can’t find anything to watch. We have:
    Netflix
    Paramount+
    Peacock
    Prime
    Acorn
    Nebula
    Curiosity Stream
    Britbox
    Max
    Apple+
    Starz
    Hulu
    Disney
    YouTube

I always sign up when they have some sale and then cancel. Top tip: every year around thanksgiving most of them run specials. We just sign up under another email.

The only time we have had a problem with streaming only is for certain televised sporting events like the recent Lions playoff game. We set up the attena to get the local channel and of course everything came in except the channel the game was on. Otherwise we are still paying less than we did before with cable.
