As far as I know, Tiktok will need to either be sold or amend their algorithm and end their relationship with Bytedance. I don't forsee either of those two things happening. It'll be removed from app stores and then once users aren't able to upgrade, it'll be phased out for Americans. I don't think the Supreme Court is going to save it.

I too hate social media. Mainly the doom scrolling. Constant ads. Never ending negativity. Constant comparing & thinking I'm not enough.

I did get rid of it for a month last year & I was so so so much more productive & mentally healthy, but I also felt I knew 0 of the things happening around me. I need to make better boundaries again. Some better mix.

But yeah, it's trash on my mental health.

I'm thinking more and more I need to delete my accounts. Watched Zuckerberg's announcement from a couple of days ago. Not liking what I'm hearing. Then my fear of offending/hurting people kicks in, and I start worrying what the designers will say/think when I want to quit the teams. And I start thinking I have to keep my Facebook account......

Life with an ADHD brain is so fun sometimes.

I use Facebook and Instagram to follow family, friends, and scrapbooking. I refuse to get sucked into TikTok. I do have SnapChat, but only use it for the filters and then very rarely.

I've started digital decluttering now! I've been going through my inbox - it's been so terribly neglected for years! I've unsubscribed from tons of newsletters - stores where I don't shop, hobbies I rarely do anymore, anything really that I don't 100% want to get. And I've been deleting e-mails ... I'm up to over 16.000 deleted e-mails now. Yes - I said my inbox have been neglected!

Tomorrow I have a CT layout to share in various groups on Facebook, but after that I'm done. I've stepped down from 4 CTs because they demand Facebook presence. I'm only staying on @KimJ 's team from now. I'm thinking Saturday or maybe Sunday, I'm deleting my Facebook and my Instagram.

I've sent DMs to people sharing my e-mail address, hoping some of them will keep in contact, but to be honest, I don't think they will. People just don't use e-mail for private correspondence anymore. We'll see.

Leaving social media is a challenge. I think, what I'll miss most, is sharing things. It's like a finished project doesn't count unless you posted it on-line. If I mend a sock - will it count if my followers on Instagram don't see it? I'm such a filthy little attention seeker!!! :agree

I've also started a more fun project in line with my digital decluttering. No - I'm not going to delete stuff - but I've started a project I call "Revisiting My Stash". It means I will make layouts using designers who has retired, or moved shop, or retired kits, and so on. Designs I cannot really post at any of the galleries I'm at. The layouts are just for me (and my family). I see it as a training for my brain to be satisfied with the fact that I myself are happy with it.

So .... this is what happens when I decide to not make any new year's resolution or choosing a word for the new year. All of a sudden - changes just happens. :giggle

I've been doing this for a couple of years. Since I have my previews in Bridge, I can label them with a color when they have been used. Both kits and template sets, kits are red, templates are yellow. In a side panel, it shows how many images do not have a label. It has been so satisfying to see that number go down! And, when I do a search for a theme, having them labeled shows me what kits haven't been used. Granted there are times that a kit I've already used fit the photos better or I bought a kit specifically for those photos, but it is again satisfying when I can go back to Bridge and label that preview of a kit after I've used it.

    Good luck!!!

Not good with social media, used to post on FB, basically so that all the family that is spread thinly around the globe could see it without me having to post the same photos thirty times to different family branches, it also gave a possibility to someone who didn't want to see them opt out... But Mum is gone on my side, and Dad on husband's side, they were the main interested parties, now it's easier to send a few pics to John's Mum, my Mum-in-law and my Dad isn't bothered it seems... My friend is gone, and my Russian side of the family have restrains already in where they can go, and what they can see, and with the way it's going, they will lose access to the internet sooner or later. So I have been sparse, there are a few friends on IG that I keep in touch but that's not even every month. I feel like that's enough if not too much social media. I would rather call or send whatsapp messages to those friends and family who are interested and keen to keep in touch, mostly I pulled out of everything when Russia attacked Ukraine. I was so overcome with rage and frustration and guilt, that I preferred to do something useful with my time, and am still (though in smaller quantities) involved in helping refugees, now actual friends with translations and navigating life abroad.. Maybe I will be back celebrating with the whole world when the war is over. Until then I will be here under the bridge sitting quietly with my cats and a laptop, scrapping about small things.

My answer is never! I really only come to a scrapbooking gallery for the inspiration, never in my 20 years of full time scrapping did I buy anything that I saw on FB or IG.

I’m on FB numerous times a day but probably only 5-10 min at a time. I’m not on IG much but have come to love TikTok, so am on that multiple times a day but again, like FB, only for about 10 min at a time. I’m going to miss TikTok if the ban happens. I get online when I’ve got small pockets of free time, like when I’m the passenger in our car, at the car wash, grocery line, doctors office waiting room, etc.

I am on Facebook, IG, and Twitter. I debated leaving Twitter but stayed on after Musk took over, but unfortunately it's one of the few places I get info about the war in Ukraine. Facebook I use for CT work and also follow some animal shelters/help groups. I also hate all the ads there. And IG I use the least but I have started to post things again on my account and Charlotte's account, which is another time suck. But I mostly scroll when I'm watching tv and not really at work so there's that, lol

I definitely have a love/hate relationship with social media, but I'd have to say that for me, the good outweighs the bad. I am definitely the type of person who just scrolls on by things that I don't like though - so I rarely get upset by it. I use(d) TikTok, Instagram, Facebook. I have X but don't use it - it's my least favorite. If I had to pick a fave, it would definitely be Instagram. I have years and years of photos on there, and to me its fun to scroll through my life highlights and also to see family members' posts.

I think that because TikTok is getting banned in the US, it’s like a blessing in disguise for most of us

Although I try to limit my screen time, I need to use facebook and instagram for business. As a fitness presenter, that's how instructors find my trainings and clients find my classes.

I never used fb for CT work, but most of my CT assignments were back when there were so many more digital scrapbooking sites and several of those sites let us post work from any designer and got lots of views.

I find I get way too distracted by social media. I have Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

I do find all the platforms useful for sharing photos with family, learning new things especially TikTok where I mainly follow allotment and cookery accounts.

Noticed a huge difference this morning. I checked the forums, my e-mails and skimmed the night's news. Took me 10 minutes. My morning phone ritual used to take like an hour before! Read a couple of chapters in a book instead of doom scrolling.

I use FB, Instagram and X. For the past 5 years I've done a daily diary post on Instagram (shared to FB) that lots of my friends read... but decided enough now and am doing a weekly one instead. I only share my scrapping on fb for those teams that require it and I don't buy anything from what I've seen... I think i am more influenced by the store newsletters than social media.

My biggest peeve with FB (and now instagram too) is that I keep seeing posts from "last week" that I have already seen and don't get to see new stuff. Plus I very seldom see posts from my friends unless I visit their page directly. I only see stuff from the same 4/5 friends.

The only reason I have an X account is to keep up with our power utility provider who posts about electricity outages there.
