Ours is side by and the washer is a top loader in the hallway in a closet across from our half bath... now I do not want to talk about the laundry.. I get such anxiety doing the laundry since September... my washer / dryer are now 19 months old... In September the washer (a Maytag) started screaming at me when it would go into the Rinse/Spin cycle... well finally I broke down in Dec., and called the Maytag repair people as I thought it was a balance issue.. we rebalanced etc.. nope and the screaming was not consistent.... Since I did not get the extended warranty and it is not the motor, the warranty is up on parts/labor after 12 months... So anyway, finally on Dec 18th the repair man came and told me it was nutty that the fly wheel and pully went on it..he said he never saw a cleaner washer after 18 months than ours was.. it looks brand new with nothing stuck anywhere.. clean as a whistle... the repair (their fee for coming to the house + parts + labor) is half of what another new washer costs, so we went ahead and told him to order parts. .. I called the other day as with the holidays I knew things would get delayed, so now I am waiting until the end of January for the guy to come and fix it as last Wednesday they were still waiting on 1 of the 3 parts ordered to come in. I have been able to do laundry, but every time it screams I have to pull the plug and replug back in, so I sit in front of the washer for the 2 loads I do each week.. ugh.. Obviously my issues are small potatoes with what others are going through right now. I just want it fixed so I don't have anxiety anticipating the screaming washing machine!
We have front loading stackers. I'm not tall either but don't have any trouble accessing the top one (dryer). We have a laundry room but my daughter has some of her storage stuff in there so the stackers were a better option than the side by side that we had previously. Having shelves on one wall for all the cleaning products and a large countertop/sink is handy. I like that there is no agitator and is a large capacity (great for blankets). Our laundry room is on the bottom floor and the bedrooms are on the 3rd floor so I wish we had a setup in the 3rd floor ensuite which is huge and has room for a stacker in there but we haven't gotten around to it yet (been here a year now) and not sure if we'll bother, haven't decided yet.
Regular side by side but SO FAR from bedrooms & dressers. With littles it's so so hard to stay on top of it & have energy to keep on it. I'm good with getting it all clean then I often end with 1 room becoming laundry mountain to fold & distribute. I hate it!! Happy to say this week I removed the mountain & everything is all put away!!!! Now to stay on top of that so I don't get so overwhelmed. (I think the kids have too many clothes....)
Do you have stacked units, a wash tower, or side by side? side-by-side front load or top load? front load washer What do you dislike about your current setup or wish was different? My house (rambler - one story with a walk-out basement) was built in 1956 so the washer is in the basement which is basically unfinished. I wish I had a finished laundry room, but what is, is, LOL!!! I do like that I have a huge "laundry tub" sink ... it's get for washing stuff (paint brushes) or dumping mop buckets that you don't want to dump in the kitchen sink. What do you really like about your current setup? I do like that I have a huge laundry tub sink ... it's get for washing stuff (paint brushes) or dumping mop buckets that you don't want to dump in the kitchen sink.
We have a front loading washing machine in the kitchen under the main worktop. The front is constantly getting stuff spilt down it, but it cleans up okay. We have a small tumble dryer in the garage, but not everything can go in that. When we have rare dry warm days the washing is hung out on a rotary washing line in the garden. But normally it's on foldable airers in the conservatory or lounge with fans blowing at them.
I used to have a utility room (laundry room) which housed the washer and dryer (front loading is normal in the UK), a separate freezer and had cupboards for cleaning supplies, an extra sink and is also where the cats were fed and the litter tray kept. I always was thankful for that and knew how lucky I was. However, since divorcing and downsizing: I have a combined washer dryer in a little (around 800mm wide) annex off the kitchen. I couldn't have coped with that when there was five of us. There is now only three so it's passable. In good weather laundry is hung outside to dry and then 'finished' in the tumble dryer for 20-30 minutes to flufff up and reduce ironing to, well, zero. Being the UK, it's mostly on an airer indoors but I've invested in a dehumidifier which significantly speeds up the indoor drying process and prevents the problems of drying wet clothes inside. I wish I'd had one of those years ago! Again, things are usually finished off in the tumble dryer to fluff and de-crease. Doing it this way means the machine isn't held up from washing for too long. I always do an extra spin and drain at the end of every load as well. When I moved into my house I discovered that the previous tenant (it was previously owned and let out) must have had a slimline washing machine as I couldn't get my new one through the gap and into the separate area, so I had to have the opening cut out and re-plastered just to get the thing in! I did inherit a built-in dishwasher which I'm currently using for storage so am considering taking that out and putting the washer/dryer in that gap and using the new gap for shelving as I am really limited for storage for things liking cleaning products, the broom, mop, laundry bin etc. I don't love anything about my current set-up but it is what it is.
Do you have stacked units, a wash tower, or side by side? front load or top load? Side by side - top load washer, front load dryer What do you dislike about your current setup or wish was different? I'm not a big fan of top loading machines because I can't reach the bottom easily but I had a front loader before this and even though I did all the right things (leaving the door open always, wiping the seal out all the time, replacing the seal, running the dehumidifier in the room, cleansing tablets etc) the seal and smell was gross! I also hate that the set up is in the garage but we're moving soon, back to Virginia, where they definitely won't be in a garage again! What do you really like about your current setup? I love that I have the delay wash option on my washer so I can throw a load in at bedtime to start washing about an hour before I get up in the morning. When I have my morning tea, the load is ready to be put into the dryer. It also has an impeller (vs an agitator) so it's easier on the clothes while still getting them clean. The dryer door is also interchangeable so it can open from the side or the top - a feature I don't care about but apparently my husband uses often?!
Do you have stacked units, a wash tower, or side by side? Side by side front load or top load? top load washer, front load dryer What do you dislike about your current setup or wish was different? Mainly just that there's not enough space. It sounds like my "laundry room" is similar to yours. It's a pass-through from the garage into the house. Washer, dryer, and large upright freezer along the wall, with some shelving above. No room for anything else. I fold laundry on the couch in the adjacent family room while watching tv. Our primary bathroom (which is not close to the laundry area) gets used for sorting and line drying anything that needs it, so it's always a mess. What do you really like about your current setup? I love the large capacity, no agitator washing machine. It's great for bedding and such. It does take much longer than our old machine to run a load though; usually about 75-90 minutes.
