I rent a bedroom in someone else's house, so don't have a lot to clean. She cleans the main living area. I have my own bathroom. I keep it clean enough for me, but no one ever visits my space, so it doesn't matter. I clean up after myself in the kitchen, of course, because she has very high standards as she does cleaning as a side hustle and is very good at it. I usually don't dust until the sunlight makes it stand out. Living in a small space is hard, because it always feels cluttered, especially since my closet doesn't have doors. I'm constantly getting rid of stuff and new stuff appears. LOL
My husband and son are super messy. When Vlad was little, I tried to keep the house as clean as possible, I always wiped something, vacuumed, mopped, dusted, the bathroom and the kitchen were spotless. And I got angry with them when I saw that in a few hours it was as if I had done nothing. I was arguing all the time with my husband because he leaves all the things scattered, instead of putting them in their place, so cleaning takes much longer than it should, only because I had to put everything in its place first. In general, my husband and I had a rule, he wiped the dust, vacuumed and mopped, I took care of scrubbing the bathroom and the kitchen. It's just that after he cleans, it always seems to me that he didn't do it right and I come after him to correct it. Lately, however, I have become more relaxed, I try not to get angry any more and let them do their work at their own pace. I gave up making order in Vlad's room, I just tell him to pick up what he has dropped on the floor because I'm going to vacuum. I try to clean regularly, but sometimes I can't, so I clean when I can and when I feel like it. The house is always messy, but I'm getting used to it. It's much better for my mental health. Better in a messy house than loony house.
I hate cleaning but I do love a clean or clutter free house. Having two border collies we always have fur collections and dirty floors. So we do have to hoover and mop regular. We only have a small house so it doesn’t take long to clean.
My confession- I do have a house cleaner- but she only comes every other week & only does the bathrooms and mops the floors. I still have to vacuum (I try to do all the carpet at least weekly because of dogs & kids) and the hardwood gets vacuumed almost everyday. I'm terrible at dusting & with all this dark wood- it shows! Ugh. The kitchen is always in some sort of disarray since we have too many people using it all day long- 4 teenagers plus my husband! lol
I hate cleaning. I try to keep my decor minimal and don't clutter so that cleaning is faster and easier. My hubs will vacuum and we both dust. I hate doing windows. Swiffer is my best friend, I sweep and mop the floors often with the swiffer and use the extended swiffer to dust. I make the bed every morning but not overly fussy about it, no neatly tucked in edges on my bed. I refuse to iron but will use a clothes steamer occasionally. I want a clean house but don't want to devote a lot of my time to it. The same goes for cooking, I'm tired of it, I do as little as I can get away with.
I am blessed to have a lady that comes and cleans the house twice a week. One of the perks of living in South Africa. I keep things tidy and everything in its place, and I do the washing. If I had to clean myself we would live in a much smaller house now that 2/3 of the kids have moved out. Ironing is my least favourite thing.
Cleaning is an annoying evil, but it has to be done. Fortunately, I can now organize it. And we only have a small house so it doesn’t take long to clean.
I used to be like that @Esther Wisdom but since my chest injury a few years ago I've had to relax my standards a lot. I can't do much myself still and getting the youngest to help is .... well I'm sure you can imagine. When the others are home from university they help me "spring clean" to get the place back up to scratch again.
Oh this is me and given that I have had to call the plumber to come and fix my boiler then that day is today!
Cleaning? I don't understand. What is this "cleaning" thing of which you speak? We only do the bare minimum, absolutely necessary cleaning here. Back in the day when my husband and I both worked full time outside the house we had a service come twice a month and I really miss it.
