I was just checking my On This Day in my journal and found a screenshot of a post I made here at TLP on this very topic in 2021. Courtney @bestcee asked about the age of our profile pictures. I'm still using the same profile picture and now it's 6.5 years old. I tried to make a new one a couple of times in 2024, but didn't like anything as well as that one. Perhaps in part because back in 2017, when I made the picture that has been my profile image everywhere for the last 6.5 years, I was still actively shooting with my DSLR. With that thought in mind, I actually pulled the DSLR out of my desk drawer last summer, searched for the lens (my husband took it), and clumsily set up the old tripod. I had a very difficult time and the pictures were worse than what I got with my phone. I decided I'm fine with the 2017 picture. It's still pretty accurate; I'm just more fully gray. For fun, here are the DSLR images I made last summer and decided not to use. You can see why I'm sticking to the 2017 image for now. I make selfies often though. Someday I'll probably change it.
I try taking selfies every so often and never seem to get one I really like, so I can relate. I will usually keep a profile photo for years. The one I have now was taken on Christmas Day, so it's about as recent as it gets lol. The one before I'd had since the Halloween Bash in like 2022. I kind of liked the witchy filter look. No filters on the new one lol.
Mine is from fall of 2014 when I went to a football game with my friend. My alma mater (Toledo Rockets) were playing her alma mater (Cincinnati Bearcats). Unfortunately, her team won. But we had a great time since the game was played in Paul Brown Stadium where the Cincinnati Bengals played (now known as Paycor Stadium).
Still looking at my On This Day in my journal, I have come upon this photo from 2011, which includes the laptop and screen setup I used back then, with the Scrapgirls forum showing a post I made there, and you can see the profile image I was using at the time. I don't even remember it; I must have used it a very short time. But that's the shortest my hair ever was before I cut it super short in 2017. Before 2017, I used to cut it chin length like you see in this photo in late summer or early fall, and then let it grow all year so I could put it up in pony tails or buns by summer, and repeat. Just one haircut per year. Plus, look at that old fashioned reminder method I used to use, writing on paper. It was a reminder to attend a chat.
Mine is from a high school ball (prom) back in 2005. I had used it on a layout & I think @MrsPeel may have suggested it at the time as my profile pic and the rest is history
I just updated mine from one I had been using for maybe 9 years! I took a million selfies trying to get one that I could use. I think there is an art to getting a good selfie and I don't have that skill.
Mine is about 5 years old. I'm due for a new one, but just haven't made it a priority It's on my to-do list to get a new profile picture for work too.
Mine is pretty old. I need a good lesson on how to take a selfie. I usually don't like the ones I take of myself LOL.
Mine is from my cousins wedding in 2021. I recently got my hair cut and took a selfie that I do like. I might change this one but really this is one of my favorite pictures of myself. I hated having my picture taken and for that reason there are not many of me from years ago. Since 2020 I have taken more photos of myself. My sister, my Mom, and I will randomly send our group chat a selfie of whatever we are doing at that very moment. Then we reply with a selfie. It’s fun and has gotten us all taking more photos. Now I need to do a page about our “selfie chats” lol
The profile photo I am using at the moment was created on an online site back in 2019 ( according the file information on the image in my file).

my drawing is a few years old. I've chosen not to add the stray strands of grey hair. It's still mostly brown. I change the background and her outfit to match my sigi every time I change that. Actually I need to do that soon, it's still Christmassy.
