    Happy National Pickleball Day!

Here’s a fun definition from the internet: “Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines tennis, badminton, and table tennis in one. If you have never played or witnessed a game of Pickleball, think Wiffle ball meets Ping Pong meets Tennis. But don’t let that description confuse you. The ball used is similar to a Wiffle ball, while the racket used is similar to a short tennis racket only solid like a ping pong paddle rather than webbed. Play happens on a court similar to that of a tennis court.”

Have you ever played or watched pickleball?
Which sport are you most familiar with: pickleball, tennis, badminton, or table tennis?
What’s the last sport you played or watched?

Have you ever played or watched pickleball? Nope

Which sport are you most familiar with: pickleball, tennis, badminton, or table tennis? Played tennis in high school gym class and played sorta-tennis with the GKs. Played a lot of badminton and ping pong (table tennis) growing up and with my kids/GKs. I have a ping pong table in my basement and a badminton set down there too which I haven't put up in a few years.
What’s the last sport you played or watched? Played? Probably 1on1 basketball with my grandson. Watched ... bits and pieces of the Olympics ... swimming and gymnastics.

I love pickleball and play almost every week. So yes, it is the sport I am most familiar with from the three you list above. The last sport I watched was some track events in the Olympics yesterday.

b Nope but have heard a lot about it.
Which sport are you most familiar with: pickleball, tennis, badminton, or table tennis? Badminton. At the family volleyball games during the summer when I was growing up, the kids would play badminton when the net wasn't being used by the adults.
What’s the last sport you played or watched? None of these listed.

I love the sorta-tennis reference lol I play sorta-pickleball with my kids because I still don’t know the real rules or how to keep score.

Sounds like you play a lot! I only play once or twice a year with extended family; they are obsessed.

Badminton is the one I’m least familiar with. I only remember playing it briefly at my grandma’s house when I was little.

LOL ... I learned the rules in high school, but promptly forgot them. When the GK were younger we belonged to a private community pool that had tennis courts and the kids liked to play tennis, but it was mostly just batting the ball back and forth with a LOT of chasing the ball b/c none of us were good at returning serves/volleys.

my family play pickleball sometimes (not me though) having been introduced to the sport by my in laws. I think they learnt it at a club that started up in their town.

We are most familiar with Badminton, my husband is part of a club and my eldest led her school badminton team during her last year of school.

All we really did was hit the shuttlecock back and forth and not keep score. It was also something that could be played inside (like in an open basement) since the shuttlecock is lightweight. If it hits something, no damage. My friends and I would sometimes just hit it back and forth in the basement without a net. Kept us active and was good for eye/hand coordination.

Now that you mention it I remember that we have a kid set that we play with inside randomly. I prefer no net because that’s easier for me.

I can remember playing badminton with a rope laying on the ground subbing for a net ... maybe b/c my parents didn't want to set up the net yet again.

I think we used chalk on the basement floor since it was concrete.

Have you ever played or watched pickleball? Yes!! I love Pickleball. Chance and I go play any time we can and now my 8 year old grandson loves it and asks to go all the time.

Which sport are you most familiar with: pickleball, tennis, badminton, or table tennis? I'm probably more familiar with table tennis and badminton because I've played them longer.

What’s the last sport you played or watched? We played pickeball last weekend and I was just watching a little NFL preseaon! I've also spent 3 or 4 days a week watching my grandbabies play basketball.

Another pickleball lover! That’s fun you play with Chance and your grandson. It sounds like you watch a lot of basketball too! I enjoy watching basketball more than most sports.

Table tennis was the only sport I was good at in junior high PE! We would do big tournaments and I always came out on top. I do play pickleball now and then and it's a lot of fun, but I'm not super great at it.

Have you ever played or watched pickleball? I think I've seen pickleball on TV, but never in person. Haven't played either, but we have friends who love tennis and have started to play pickleball... they keep trying to get my hubby and I to play with them.

Which sport are you most familiar with: pickleball, tennis, badminton, or table tennis? I used to play tennis a bit for fun in college with friends (I wasn't great) and we played badminton as kids in the yard and also played table tennis here and there too. Pickleball seems to be all the rage around here and anywhere that has courts is always busy.

What’s the last sport you played or watched? Me? Sports. Meh. :giggle I'm an artsy person for a reason. Ha ha! I guess I'd say corn hole is the last thing I did with other people. I'm always the worst one of the people playing.. so it's obviously not my favorite.

I tried Pickleball for the first time two years ago. I liked it enough, but wasn't enthusiastic so when the friend I was trying it with said she didn't like it, I chose to walk with her instead. Since then I've done it a few more times with some coworkers just for fun.

Of those 4 games, I'm most familiar with the rules of Pickleball since that's the only one I've played in many years. I learned tennis when I was a kid but didn't play much. Also when I was a kid, we had a Ping Pong (table tennis) table but I never learned the rules for it. I've never learned or watched badminton. Couldn't even describe it.

Is hiking a sport? :D I hike a few times every month. Other than a few games of Pickleball and throwing balls around with children and hide and seek and games like that . . . I can't think of anything sport-like I've played in like a decade. Oh! A little over a decade ago, I participated in Kickball games with my kids and other homeschool families several times. That was fun!
edited to add, because I didn't notice the word "watched" in the last question before: I don't watch any sports. I did watch the Richmond Squirrels play baseball about 7 years ago, after my oldest kid sang the national anthem for them at the beginning of the game. I don't think I've ever watched any sports on t.v. in my whole 52 years of life. :P
