Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Is anyone celebrating today? Did you do or eat anything special? I had hoped to get by here earlier today, but I ended up having to drive to Bristol, TN to pick up my daughter who had gone down with her husband for the NASCAR race and then decided she would get home too late tonight to try to work tomorrow LOL. It's not a bad drive and one of my favorite places to eat is along the way, so I did that instead of cooking like I had planned.
Didn't do any celebrating or eating anything special today. Never have even though I have Irish heritage. According to my Ancestry DNA, I have 19% Irish ethnicity and it is all on my dad's side of the family. My great-great-grandparents immigrated from County Kerry in the late 1860's. They brought 2 children with them and had 5 more once they settled in Ohio. My great-grandfather was one of them that was born in Ohio.
I’m glad you enjoyed some good food along the drive Jan! I bought a bunch of rainbow treats to celebrate - freeze dried Skittles, Lucky Charms cereal marshmallows & hot cocoa, Airhead Xtremes, and jello that I made in rainbow layers all day. We also all wore green; it was fun to see so many people at church wearing green!
Glad you had a safe drive Jan! I watched the St Patrick's Day parade from Dublin on PBS in the morning and watched other Irish/Ireland programs on PBS during the day. I made Lamb Shanks for dinner and had Guinness and then my hubby made us an Irish Coffee for dessert! I wanted to make my Irish Brown Bread this year, but skipped it. Later on in the fall I will make Stew and make the brown bread then. Hope all enjoyed their day!
I am 7% Irish according to Ancestry. And that reminds me that I really need to take the time one day to really dive into all my results! The rainbow treats sound so fun!! Oh wow!! Sounds like an amazing dinner and dessert!! I didn't remember to wear green either, but I didn't see many people at all. I'm always glad when St. Patrick's Day falls on a weekend so I don't have to plan something green to wear to work lol.
The youth ministry program I volunteer with held their retreat over the weekend so I wore my lepricorn shirt and our lunch meal theme was St. Patrick's Day. I don't drink & I'm only a teensy bit Irish so that was all.
