I love to read. I have since I was a little girl. So, I am very excited about the theme for August. AUGUST MUSE: THE WORLD OF BOOKS Just like last week, for this week's muse we are going to be creating a new bookmark (or two or three). Here are your theme options for week two. Graphic Novels * Young Adult Fiction * Animal Non-fiction * Mysteries You can use any of these categories to create at least one bookmark. You can create more but you need to create at least one. You also need to incorporate the bookmark in a layout that has something to do with books. You can do this in one of two ways. You can create one bookmark and create one layout for that bookmark. You would then create one bookmark and one layout for every week that you play. You can create one layout for the entire month and incorporate each bookmark that you create in to that layout. An important note here. You need to make the bookmark yourself. For this challenge, you cannot purchase a pre-made bookmark. Here is an inspiration board I created to help get your creative juices flowing. Here are a few quotes that might get you inspired as well. "With great power comes great responsibility." --Ben Parker (Spiderman) "Change is inevitable. Instead of resisting it, you're better served simply going with the flow." --Shunsui Kyōraku (Bleach) "So long as life remains, there is always hope... and so long as there is hope, there can be victory!" --Diana (Wonder Woman) "Maybe our favorite quotations say more about us than about the stories and people we’re quoting." --An Abundance of Katherines by John Green "Books are my friends, my companions. They make me laugh and cry and find meaning in life." --Eragon by Christopher Paolini "I have a theory that selflessness and bravery aren’t all that different." --Divergent by Veronica Roth "Our perfect companions never have fewer than four feet." --Sidonie Gabrielle Colette "Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms." --George Eliot "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." --Anatole France “I believe we have two lives. The life we learn with, and the life we live with after that.” --Open and Shut by David Rosenfelt “If chocolate were a mandatory part of breakfast, people wouldn’t be so grouchy in the morning.” --Strawberry Shortcake Muder by Joanne Fluke “Quitting is not the answer. Life is not fair, and you can't quit every time something unfair happens to you.” --The Activist by John Grisham Here is the bookmark I created for this week's challenge. And here is my layout featuring the bookmark Ona created some great bookmark templates you can use to make your bookmarks. You can find them in the week one challenge post. Challenge for Week 2 For this week's challenge create at least one bookmark using one of the themes listed at the top of the page. You will also need a layout featuring the bookmark. (More details are at the top of this post.) You can create any type of page ie. clean and simple, artsy, pocket style etc, but you must create a collage. Your page can be all digital or hybrid. Wherever the inspiration takes you as long as you include TLP products on your page. Please post your layout to the Art Journaling Gallery HERE prior to Midnight EST August 31, 2023 and then post it in this thread by copying the code (at the right of your gallery image) from the box under "Share BB Code". We will draw a winner at the beginning of next month for a coupon!! Every bookmark you create is equal to one entry in the random draw. So if you create 1 bookmark + 1 layout you are entered once, if you create 4 bookmarks + 1 layout you are entered 4 times - this month it is based on the number of bookmarks you make. (Number of bookmarks will however be capped at 4, you can make more of course, but you will only be entered 4 times in the random draw.) You can use any products in the Lilypad store or retired products from current Lilypad designers, (just make sure you follow our gallery guidelines). I can't wait to see what y'all create.
David and I used to spend a lot of time together at Barnes & Noble. At some point, I took this photo of two magazines. It popped up when I was doing a search for book photos. I don't know if this photo will end up on my page for this week but it fits so perfectly with the theme that I had to share. (Sailor Moon is listed as anime on the cover but is also a Japanese Manga or Graphic Novel.)
I made a couple of bookmarks based on my love of mystery/suspense type novels but I can't post until Wednesday 16th for SOSN, lol!! Love your bookmark and layout Cindy, awesome work!
Thanks for a great Muse week! I decided to use the same LO background for this months muse challenges and add the bookmarks each week (with new quotes and title I'm thinking). I decided this week to make my bookmark about animals
