Love Our Designers | March 4 Today we're totally crushing on Allison Pennington Store | Facebook I'm super excited to be behind the scenes as a cheerleader for our amazing designers. Today is all about Allison Pennington. You can see Allison's gorgeous products in her store here. Head over and pick something up for yourself today, because you're missing out if you've never played with her designs. Allison is the queen of patterns, glitterbets, and snarky sayings! Allison's eye for patterns & color make her designs irresistible. And they are perfect for anything you can imagine. Like these pages I found in her gallery. Don't take my word though you can see for yourself in her designer gallery. Allison's alluring creations beckon you in for a closer look. Much like her Transitions Kit with coordinating Glitterbets. From the appealing colors to the gorgeous patterns her products leave nothing to be desired. Allison leaves it all on the digital floor with her well thought-out creations making it easy to transition from page to page. For Love Our Designers today, I chose to use Allison Pennington's newest offering for March's BYOC Dream On | I could hardly contain myself when I saw those patterns, colors and delicate cursive word bits. After I calmed down I had the pleasure of asking Allison some questions about her creative process. I love learning about what inspires our designers. Let's see what she had to say: Q&A: 1. What does a day in the life of a designer really look like? (show and/or tell us) a. I've gotten increasingly rigid with my routine so my days are mostly identical! We wake up *really* early and, while we drink coffee, I look through my calendar (just kidding - it's just a notebook on my desk!) and messages and take care of anything urgent. Once my husband leaves for work I: 1) Change the wax melts in all the melters. He doesn't love earthy scents so I really go nuts during the day. Like I pick the worst stuff imaginable (there was like 3 different patchouli blends today!) 2) MORE COFFEE 3) Work, work, work. I am almost always working. I have a full time job separate from TLP (still at home, though) so I'm working on whatever I'm working on while brainstorming/problem solving whatever I'm working on next. 4) MORE COFFEE (also water) 5) I break around 1 to do any stray dishes, change laundry, sweep, etc and then I run and/or workout. Sigh. 6) START ANOTHER POT! (watttttter) 7) I shower, etc etc (I don't want you to think I'm making plaid while I'm all sweaty!) and I change the wax to something less crazy. Usually some fruit or bakery nonsense. (today was buttercream frosting, palo santo, and zucchini bread) 8) MORE COFFEE MORE WORK 9) work. 10) 8pm bedtime (my favorite time!) It takes me forever to fall asleep so we watch whatever we're watching and laugh at each other. I love my husband. (obviously, but I REALLY love him!) We're stupid together. We have to pause shows pretty often to tell each other some random thing but it's fine. We have a good time. I'm usually running through the plans for the next day, too. Loud brain! (Side note - I have to have the TV on all day. I don't pay attention so I alternate between a few shows and I just run through them over and over. Right now I'm in the New Girl loop again) 2. Your patterns are always amazing. So tell us, what kind of patterns are your favorite to create? a. Oh man. I thought about this question all day because... it's a good question! I don't know? I think plaid? It's how I test and choose color palettes. I always mess with plaid first to make sure all the colors are going to play nice. 3. As a woman that loves words, your product names are always so fun. How do you come up with them? a. Thank you! Sometimes I think of something that *I* think is funny and then I build a collection around it. Sometimes (usually?) the name is all I need to get started. Other times I spend days trying to figure out what to call something. I have a running text file of stupid names for kits. 4. In a world of copy & paste, what is it that you think makes your designs so special? a. I don't know if they're special - I just know that I do my best when I'm designing for myself. If I try to guess what people want or try to be someone else, it doesn't go well. I'm silly and unserious and sarcastic and a little unhinged. I _hope_ my work reflects that. Allison's store is on sale today. (no code needed) So it's definitely the perfect time to take advantage of getting acquainted with her beautiful designs. Now it's your turn to play with her creations. Create a page with (mostly) Allison Pennington. Explore her Store and see what catches your eye....or if you already own some of her goodies, pull them out! Please make sure you meet the TLP gallery guidelines of at least 50% TLP product. Post your completed page in Allison Pennington's designer gallery and then come back here and share in this thread! Be sure to check out our LOVE Our Designers event daily since you never know WHO is going to be featured when! And who knows, the designer(s) may pop in here and there with special surprises and interactions while we are scrapping!!!
So sorry everyone it was a LONG night ...I'm doing this from my phone so hopefully all the images come through
I'm a huge fan of Allison! I feel like we have the same sense of humor. I love her what I call "Cranky Kits" (like Meh, The Blahs and Holiday Hangover) because sometimes I scrap about the things that don't go right, and her word arts make me laugh and fit the mood perfectly. I keep waiting for her to make a kit to help me express how much I hate picking up leaves in the fall (and to be honest, household chores in general...I'm cranky about all of it! lol), but it seems this is where we differ because every year her Fall kits are all warm and happy lol I actually have a page to scrap using "Thanks, But No" about a Thanksgiving where everything went wrong. I'll try to get that page scrapped tonight and post it here!
Allison’s designs are all wonderful.. one of my favorites is her mpm foundation add ons and seize the day!! Always so versatile!!
I love that her designs include alternative colors. I chose to use the lavender/white alternative from the Folklore kit.
HUGE FAN and I am so lucky to be on her CT, it! Also: I highly recommend following her personal account on Facebook, she regularly cracks me up with her posts.... I picked a kit that I think I hadn't scrapped with before and I stumbled upon in my stash: Hitched
Allison's products are some of my most used especially her stitching & alphas....they tend to add that finishing touch to any of my layouts that just need that something extra!
my favorites are the index cards ,cliff notes and this months byoc paper (one like my bathroom wallpaper
As a fellow member of patterned paper lovers anonymous- I LOVE Allison's patterns and the great mix of alternates that is always included! I WOULD DIE to be on her CT (wink wink?) Call anytime soon?
