what would you do with these picture frames: I have this set of 13 frames that I got for $13. I finally got around to hanging them back in December, but they still have 'the k-mart kids' in them (as my family has lovingly dubbed the store photos) My problem is, I don't really know what I want to put in them. But I have to do soemthing QUICKLY because I can't have my store-bought family members hanging on my wall when we show our house. I want it to be something a little artsy... more than just random snap shots of random things. Problem is, I LOVE outdoor shots, but I don't have pics from one outdoor photo shoot or anything like that that I can really pull from that would include all of my kids... and it might seem odd to have 13 really cute pics of Meagan hanging there... a little shrine-like i think ok... i'll stop now... i'm open to suggestions of any kind. thanks in advance! can't wait to hear what your thoughts are! (oh, and sorry for the really bad quality on the pic)
A friend of mine did the most incredible heritage display. All photos from both sides of the family. That might be fun to have. All old pictures of family members.
I would frame some nice patterned papers in some of those frames or even paint some of them with a different color. Just my two cents.
Ooh I like the patterened paper idea! But also cool crops of your kiddos would be fun and add a touch of artisticness to the "every day".
Normally I'd say go with great photos but if you are trying to sell your home most agents want you to depersonalize your space so, that being said... I agree with the whole paper and paint thing. Even cards can make lovely artwork.
i was going to suggest patterned scrapbook paper as well! maybe mixed w/ some close crops of the kids
I know we've already discussed this, so you know my thoughts on not having family photos up....but I love Jenna and Dana's idea of the patterned scrapbook paper. That could look really cool too!
I'm soooo looking for frames likes these! I would do pics of my kids with scrap papers in the other frames!
Okay. Honest opinion...here's what I would do: Put what the others said in there for the time being. Once the house sells, take them down and ship them to your new friend, Leigh, who you met at TLP. For real. I big puffy heart love the way they all fit together!!! Geesh! Love them! Even with the KMart kids in them! I have the perfect space for them right above my couch, too! Just kidding, of course! I do like the idea of scrapbook paper. Also, what about a large-letter monogram/last initial in the middle one? IDK...just a thought! You have to come back and let us know what you decide and, of course, furnish another picture of the end result!
I love the patterned paper idea. I'm in the depersonalize your home camp. I took down all of our frames when our home was for sale.
Yep, I LOVE the patterned paper idea. And maybe even painting up some frames. I'm wanting a teal / red / brown / green color pallet in there (odd maybe? but i like it), so I'm thinking a big bold teal frame my be lots of fun. I'll see what I get the courage to do. Leigh you crack me up! Honestly, I bought them at Wal-Mart... it's this little chain store, you may have heard of it... might even have one in your are??? Seriously though, last Thanksgiving (I'm talking 2009) time they were on sale for $13 total. I bought them and shoved them in my closet for a LOOOOONG time (like over a year). DH kept saying, you're never going to use those frames! LOL So I got them up on the wall at least. I started trying to edit photos last night, but I REALLY want to put some kind of funky overlay on them or something... just can't find anything in my stash that is super working. I'll keep playing. Who knows where this will end up!
I agree. My friend is a real estate agent and the first thing he says is remove family photos because you want the person moving in to envision their family in the space. His suggestions: Take photos of the unique architecture aspects of your house. This is a nice way to call attention to the details without hitting people over the head with it. The photos at the end make a nice keepsake of the home. Another thing you could do is take pictures of some of the architecture around the home (as well as site-seeing) to show what the area has to offer. Lastly you could use scenary photos from another area of the world. At that point he suggests black and white or a soothing palette.
