@Mingo08 I'm glad Michele answered you!
Yes, you have February 2nd, 11:59pm EST to have all the challenges posted. So, scrap as you can and come join the fun!

I think my least stressful MOC year was the year that I planned to scrap mainly my pictures from a trip to Thailand the year before. I also gathered several kits that would work together nicely and those were my main go-to kits. There were a couple of prompts on days that didn't work with that plan (i.e. scrapping a NEW photo), but for the most part, it went super smooth, so the stress of figuring out which picture(s) out of thousands was gone and all I had to focus on was the challenge and how I would make my pictures and kits work with it. At the end, I even had the beginnings of a fun travel album :)
I kept meaning to do something similar the following years, but I didn't get organized in time, so I just scrapped with mostly newer photos. One thing I have done every year is start a Word document and copy and paste the challenge into that document every morning. When I complete a layout, I add the credits to the bottom of the challenge instructions, which has been helpful because I'm not always able to post my layout right away.
I do spend the week between Christmas and New Years going through my TLP stash to make sure that the kits (and templates) I want to use are all still in the store. If they aren't, I move them into a separate folder so that I'm not even tempted to grab from non-current kits/templates.
I think the most important tip for any MOC newbies - HAVE FUN!! Don't stress. This is a fun, interactive, push-the-envelope month full of CHALLENGES. Some challenges will be harder and make you think and you might even struggle, but the encouragement around the forum and gallery is HUGE. This event has helped me learn tips that I use to this day and others that I used for one challenge and never again because of their complexity. But, I LOVE the excitement of seeing a new challenge every day and to put my creativity to work - remember, this is our creative niche and I'm guessing that we are all here because scrapping brings use JOY, so have fun! :)

This is awesome! It's exactly what I love! I've learned so many new tricks and styles through MOC that I continue to use.

I always try to scrap as much from my older photos that need done before my newer photos. I'm almost done scrapping 2016 so for this MOC using those pics is my goal. Obviously it doesn't always work with the challenge requirements- but for the most part, I get a lot accomplished and have fun doing it! ;)

I also like to utilize my visual history for what I have in my stash- having been on CT's for many designers over the years, I have a lot to choose from- so it's an easier way to keep track of what is in store still- BEFORE I use it on the challenge.

As for credits- I utilize the metadata for keeping my supply credits & links. Before I save, alt+shift+ctrl+i to bring up the file info dialogue box- I add my links/credits into the description box. Then flatten & save. The credits are then saved with the layout in my folder system & easy to copy/paste.

I always make a folder for each month throughout the year so the past year's supplies will be easy to know that they're still in the store. HOWEVER - all the older stuff has been sorted into folders for different categories since I got tired of looking through everything just to find a specific kit or template. So the only preparation for me will be to make sure that the stuff is still in the store....Otherwise I will just wing it like I use to :giggle

I tend to be a "scrap by the seat of my pants" kind of gal. Very little planning.

The easiest year for MOC for me was the first year I did it, as I only had 4 or 5 kits to work with, and I bought very little during MOC. Fewer options = less analysis paralysis!

Although I have a LOT of TLP kits and templates now, I try to narrow down my choices so I don't get as stressed out. I usually go through my visual order history and pick a half dozen kits that are good for a lot of things and are currently in the store, as well as the last 2-3 kits I've bought recently so I know they will be in the store. I rename those kits with "2022 MOC" at the beginning of the name, so they're all gathered together when I sort.

I have a loose list of topics I would like to work on, in no particular order. Sometimes I look at it. Sometimes not. Yeah, I'm random!

That's a really cool idea! Analysis paralysis is so real when it comes to finishing the'perfect' kit! I love that you minimize that decision up front.

Please don't hesitate to alert the challenge host that you need assistance.

@Angela Toucan is another Affinity scrapbooker, and has shared a variety of tutorials that you can see at the top of this post: Alphabetical Listing of Tutorials

@klee73010 and @Firstoscartgrouch feel free to ask me for help with Affinity if you need it. I'm willing to do tutorials to cover techniques at need. I think some of the tutorials Cheryl mentioned were created during MOC last year.

I am Mrs. Organized in every aspect of my life....except MOC! :giggle
I usually just read the challenge that day and see where it takes me! I do know there's usually a multi-photo, an interview, and a few others that have been repeated in different years so Im thinking about them but for the most part I'm going to just wing it!

YES! Narrowing it down to just a few kits helps so, so much.

I'm so happy to know I'm not the only one still scrapping pics from 2016! I was thinking about the potential to start placing old photos in templates while on the go (I searched the forum for iPad scrapping options and found this thread!) so that at least the photos were arranged and I could get the story (journaling) written down. Then come back to them later on and finish them on the computer where my full stash is available. Starting is the hardest part, right?! lol

I am just now hearing about Affinity, and I think it could be a good tool for getting all these pages started, so thank you all! I have a Google Sheets document (basically excel) that I keep updated with the pages I want to scrap. I'm a big list person, so my document has a bunch of check boxes I can check off to show progress on each page. As for my stash, I use finder tags on my Mac (I have tags for both stores and a huge list of categories so I can find an Outdoorsy kit from TLP, for example, fairly easily!), and just pay attention to the "retiring sales" to add a retired tag to items I have in my stash. That typically helps keep me prepared for MOC and other challenges throughout the year.
