We celebrated my boys 12th birthday last weekend, they requested a Fortnite Theme. I don't really like fortnite, but I love how it turned out. Guess there'll be some more fortnite cakes... Do you have theme party's?
How cool is that?! I bet they had a great time! We've had a LEGO-themed party, which was fun. Actually, it was a "LEGO and fire truck" themed party because that's what DS wanted.
Astonishingly good! I had a literary theme for my 50th but it was half-hearted on the decorating side of things (costumes we took far more seriously!) I do not have the patience/skills to do a cake that brilliantly!
Wow, those cakes turned out spectacular! How did you learn how to do that? My oldest turned 15 last week and I couldn't even get a layer of decorative frosting on it! When my oldest was younger he liked theme parties and my middle guy (12) hasn't wanted a theme for many years (it's never been his style) --- but he's TOTALLY addicted to Fortnite and I know he'd be into those cakes!
How cool is that!! The cakes are amazing!! You are so talented! I've done 2 Minecraft birthdays. For one, I made a creeper cake. It was huge! And for the other, I put together a diamond sword out of cupcakes.
You are so talented, Annemieke. Those cakes are fantastic! Way to go, Mom! We don't really do themes, but that was more when they were younger. My boys would jump at those cakes though!
A few years ago I had a workshop for a bachelorparty, we learned how to fill a cake and cover it with fondant. I really liked it, so I tries a couple of times to make my own. When I was younger I worked a lot with clay (fimoklei) and made tiny figurines of it, I always loved that. I guess that's why I like the modeling of poppets on the cakes. My first cakes didn't look like this, I have made a lot over the years. First I made a cake as a birthday present for the kids of friends and family (good way to practice!) and later on when people asked to make them a cake I asked a small amount to cover the costs of the ingredients. With my busy family life & work I don't make a lot of cakes, but when I do I really like to make it a masterpiece.
@MiekSter Your cake skills are amazing! And the decorations too . . . what an awesome party atmosphere! My son is 13 - about to be 14 - and he plays Fortnite constantly. To mess with him, we call the game ForkKnife. LOL I've done different theme parties for my children and then some years we've not even had a party (we give them the option of taking the money we'd spend on the party experience and add that to their gift money) or they've had an experience (like Daniel's Nerf gun parties where it was his guns/ammo/camo outfit that was important).
Wow, hats off to you. I didn't know what Fortnight was but seeing your amazing cake photos, I know exactly what it is and that my sons played that too for a while.
what! that is amazing !!!! we would do themed parties but nothing as spectacular as THAT cake. you are a talent!
From the 9 year old that just walked over and saw the photos: "Whaaat? That's so cool! That kid is so lucky! I want that cake! I bet that party was awesome!" You did a fantastic job on the cake!
