January 28: Combine Two Templates Hi Scrappers!! We are almost to the finish line & I'm so excited to be bringing this challenge to you today because I LOVE templates! And I have to say that I think we are a little spoiled at The Lilypad with some amazing template designers that really encourage creative page layouts. A little over a week ago we played with a simple template with Monica & Soco, and before that we created with a filled template with Carol & Cheryl, so I know you all are familiar with templates. But just in case you need a refresher, here is a great tutorial from Cheryl to get you started: VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING TEMPLATES Building on what we've already done, today we are here to COMBINE TWO TEMPLATES TOGETHER! This is a unique way to stretch your template stash by getting two different template looks on one page. For this challenge you need to combine the two provided templates, one is by Scrapping with Liz & the other by Sabrina's Creations, together on your canvas to create your page. You can flip, rotate, and add/subtract photos and elements to make them yours, but you HAVE to make certain we can still recognize it as originating from both the original templates. (if you need it, @bestcee made a quick tutorial last week on how to move template layers around & you can find that here) Download your MOC7 two templates HERE And this is the page I created when I combined these two templates together: I used Liz's template directly & weaved Sabrina's in between the layers of circles & lowered it to the bottom center. Here's a sample from Anne too! She has Sabrina's front and center & used Liz's twice in small circle clusters at the top & bottom. To recap, here are the rules: Create a layout by combining the two templates onto one page The templates have to both be easily recognizable in your layout Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places: Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site). Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish. Pages must contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers). Have fun!! I can't wait to see all your pages!
Reserved For Clarifications & Questions So far I don't think anyone is having trouble with the merging templates, but in case anyone needs more tips and tricks for doing this, @Dalis has some written instructions in the Learning Pad part of the forum here!
Though I have never been a frequent template user, the templates here are creative! Your example is terrific!
@EHStudios - Is there a minimum of each template that we need to use? I’m guessing just using one or two bits from one template and the rest from the other wouldn’t really count.
However much is needed that I can still recognize as both templates being used and both designers being credited.
Nothing hugely imaginative from me I'm afraid, I turned Liz's template landscape and then used the photospots from Sabrina's!
Cool challenge! I love templates as a starting pint and often use both these designers' templates, but I've never combined templates and would never have though to do circles and squares on the same one! Thanks for the challenge! I'm up for it! Although, it's my 'baby' boy's 18th Birthday tomorrow, so I probably won't be back until Wed, will have plenty of photos to scrap though!
I combine templates all the time! Basically because of the first MOC I did had a combine two templates challenge!!! It’s a great way to use your stash!
Super fun! I have a non-stop day in front of me, may not get to play (co-op, basketball game, soccer banquet and meeting g with my oldest!)... But I'm super excited to try it when I do finally get back home!
woohoo, posting even though I got to be a sample! lol LIz's templates made small and used twice on top and bottom and sabrinas right in the middle!
