Here to help some of you with your Day 12 page! Your title should NOT be overlayed on top of your photo. It should be along an edge of your photo, touching the photo. It should appear to be an extension of that edge of your photo - the photo should extend into the title, not be a separate part of your photo. From a physical perspective, think of taking a photograph, and cutting your title out of the top edge of photo with scissors.

Does this help? Please let us know if you need assistance with this challenge!

here another way to do this from @cfile
    (thank you Christa!)

With any software you are using make a rectangle. Fill in with color. On your next layer in a good chunky font write your title. Adhere that next to and touching the rectangle so they are one. Merge them together. Now take your photo and place above your new shape created from the rectangle and the word and place over it and use the shapeword as a cookie cutter for your photo. Once you have done all that, decorate your page as normal.

You ladies are wonderful :) I did not see this post until now but Jenn altered me to this exact problem with my page in a PM. I think it is great to have this post here for people to see if they might be having the same difficulty. With Jenn's help and the above tea example I was able to fix my lay-out to comply :) Happy scrapping everyone :) Also @mrs2a50 your explanation was VERY helpful :)

@MariSt that is so cool the way you used two words at the top! Great job making it work!
I hope you posted it to the regular day 12 thread too!

Hay Christa, love your suggestion, but was thinking, can't you also make a clipping mask out of the black rectangle with the word attached and clip your photo to it????? Just wondering. I am still learning my way through clipping masks!!

Yes, I think Christa chose not to use the term "clipping" mask bc some programs don't seem to have that feature maybe? But that is how you use the combined shape and title mask in PS and PSE.

Sorry I didn't write up the instructions like this. I did it with separate title and shape because I thought it gave more flexibility in moving the title around after you clip your photos - for me I didn't like where the flower sat when I clipped my photo to everything. I like having my title mask and shape mask separate - so I could move my title to different locations along my shape edge to find the best fit. That's the reason I gave the instructions the way I did. It's not really all that many more steps IMHO. The only difference is a duplicate photo layer.

Your directions were fine, Jan. I think I reinvented the wheel, but you said that any way we could do it -that was fine. I have to do things weirdly sometimes. My brain must be weird. :crazy3

That's a great idea being able to move both! What's nice is along with your great instructions, everyone is getting more ideas on how to do this. With PS and PSE, there are so may different ways to do thing!!! :yup

@RJMJ Did you see this post and how to use if to day 12's page? I saw you were still having trouble. There aren't rules for the rest of the page, so you can still scrap in your preferred style :)

I did it that way too. I figured it was the easiest. When I layered it over, I gave it a stroke to make sure that it was touching according to the rules!
