January 6 shape cut out Used a grad cap, fun challenge and something I wouldn’t usually think to do. Used just jaimee 24/7 kit
Thanks for the new challenge... I love that MOC always pushes me out of my comfort zone! (ETA: I just re-checked the instructions and wanted to make sure you knew that my multiple star cutouts are a single element from the Shimmer kit. Thanks!)
My shape is the sanskrit symbol for "om," a term we use in yoga. The cut-out is the big shape slightly closer to the top and left of the layout. The smaller om isn't the cut-out, it's a blend into background.
This was a fun challenge and easier than I expected I usually do not journal much on a page because I am not that skilled at doing it mostly and I often like the photos to "speak for themselves." I actually need to install some fronts into my PSE as I often have trouble finding ones I like to use. I am not totally pleased with the "blocky" looking font I used on this page but it allowed me to see what I was doing when I clipped my element to the journaling. If I become more skilled at journaling itself I will use this technique again. Thank you much for this challenge
Sometimes simple is good, yeah? But there's simple and "wow this almost feels like cheating." Stg I spent longer fighting with myself over adding elements than I did planning or putting this together. Credits at link
MOC - Day 6 - Shape Cut From Text by morgyns posted Jan 7, 2019 at 5:28 PM This was a fun new technique to try. I typed out the words from the book we are reading in the photo as my background, then cut out 2 digger images from the text.
Have been playing with this most of the day... was fun... Knew right away what I wanted to do.... but I can tweak like forever! Had not used this technique before.... easy and fun.... Thanks for sharing it with us....
The script is part of The Night Before Christmas. I cut out a tree using a wooden element in Season of Magic. The tree doesn't show up as much as I'd like, I guess a more dense text would show it better. Products used: Season of Magic Bundle by Lynn Grieveson December 2015 Urban Script Brushes by NBK Design
You can use only one shape to cutout, but I'm fine with using it more than once (as long as the shape is clearly visible)
