Apparently he can't skip, gallop, or throw well enough. He got a C in gym, which keeps him off the honor roll. Kind of a bummer b/c he got As in his academic subjects, A in music, B in art. He's only in 3rd grade so the honor roll thing isn't that big of a deal I suppose. But now I guess I'll have to work on skipping, galloping, throwing. I'm not sure if I'm up for that. Let's just say it's no surprise to me as to why he can't do these things lol.
Oh that is too bad! It's a good thing it's only third grade. You don't suppose he is have gross motor issues though?
I don't think so but I could be wrong. But it's probably more negligent mommy who didn't work on these things while I was homeschooling him. I took him out of school mid-kindy and put him back for 3rd grade.
Thats so silly! Did they actually say he couldnt do those things and thats why he got a C? I thought it was all about the effort"?
I do know what you mean. Here in 3rd grade we don't have grades yet, at least in my city. But then I got A in every little thing, except for gym and B in arts. That made me so sad, every year the same thing. My parents had a lot of talkings with me and then I realized that being in the honor roll or something like this it is not really important. Anyway, I really wish he can cope with this, b/c until today I think gym is so silly. lol
I completely don't understand this. They have a child that is academically great and they are going to keep him off the honor roll for gym?? My goodness, at third grade gym is nothing more than organized play. Being on the honor roll is such a boost for a child's confidence and can go so much farther to motivate than a good grade in gym. I find their decision making weird here. I hope he makes it next time because he definitely deserves it...whether he can gallop or not. ;-)
aww thats sucks and you havent done anything wrong by not teaching him these little things look at the things you HAVE taught him to do,i cant take credit for what my children have learned,oh and ill send my lil one over to teach him to skip he does it all the bloody while even on the football pitch when he should be running im sure he should of been a girl
Oh geesh - that seems crazy! I know gym and physical activity is important, but not so sure it should count against getting on the honor roll. Don't sweat it though and maybe just maybe it will push him to put a little more effort there (even though it seems to be such a menial class)
yep. The C is because he doesn't do those things as well as he should right now. They rate effort separately. He got a + for that lol. It's tough being on uncoordinated kid.
wow. that is special! i thought they were supposed to grade that kind of stuff on participation and effort! that is crap, i would be livid!!!!
