Keep at it Anne....bet you feel so much better, right? It's good to have goals and celebrate each milestone you achieve. I lost 75 lbs, have been maintaining that for months now, having done keto last year and this year transitioned over to auto-immune paleo. I find it really easy to do low carb and it makes me feel really good, plus, I'm the smallest I've been since a teenager. So I don't wish to lose more weight now but what I need to focus on next is a weight lifting schedule. We're away at the hospital most days so its really hard to find extra time for myself but I'm determined I'm going to fit it in somehow.
I do less than 30 carbs a day, with an eating window of 10am to 3 pm. nothing before or after (before is coffee) and water after. high fats: butter, avocado and bacon along with lots of greens. Chicken, fish and low amounts of red meat. (my hubby craves steaks). I am okay with no meats, but the protein is important I love this way of eating, and find my energy is high and stays there! my friends and I just finished a three month challenge of most weight loss (I tied my swimming partner in 22 pounds loss) We are doing the Air Force Fitness Test in November. I am the oldest (by 20 years) lol, but that helps me. I have to do sit ups and push ups (my nemesis). But am determined. I love winning! lol We all put $10 in and winner takes all! I split with my friend and just put $10 in for the new challenge.
Okay - putting it in writing: - get my 10,000 steps a day - drink more water -- and track it - get 60 minutes of activity a day - no eating after 8pm My dog gets treats in the evening -- and I find myself wanting a people treat every time I get up to get her one. Gotta break that bad habit.
I was supposed to run this morning and I over slept. I can't run after the temperature is higher than 75 I start having trouble breathing. I am hoping tomorrow.... WEEK 3AY 1 of C25K! I am a tad scared, but worse case scenario I walk what I can't jog, right?
8/1 KETO-I swiped some frosting from my son's birthday cake. Not the best choice, but we were both appeased and I did not eat an entire piece. Water- CHECK! Activity- CHECK! Scale- down 6# from start on 7/18. 8/2- 8/5 KETO- yes! Water- yes! Activity- not 8/4 and 8/5. Scale- bobbing between 2 stubborn pounds.
Welp. I said I would fit in a yoga practice tonight after my oldest son's karate class. Alas, I went to visit my new niece (#7!) instead. Tomorrow, though, for sure.
I need to check the keto diet.. I must admit I am terrible at checking the amount and keeping track though..
I have fought my weight for years. So did a whole lot of carb counting and learned the basics. I don't use paper, it is in my brain now. basic: chicken, steak, fish, cheese, eggs zero carbs build on those with the darkest greens available kale, spinach, brocolli, cabbage, and use good fats bacon! yes! avocado I had to youtube and learn to lose, but beware of the keto flu it took me 6 days of sludge/yuck to battle thru. I had beef broth to push it thru, but it is worth the energy and weight loss that come!
I did 5 sit ups this morning!! last week I could not do ONE!!! I am in plank mode working arms to try and get them into push ups. Did 2! bhwhahahah I will run in a few (dropping son off at summer camp). We can do this!
Soo.. no sweets today, huge success! I did drink more water.. I really don't feel like working out, the heat is unbearable, but I did one minute plank today and a short arm workout.. better than nothing, right?
I bow at your planking skills. I totally have the weakest arms! I did do my 2 miles on treadmill, with 1.5 full on run, and swam 2K in an hour! That is my favorite exercise. I love to swim. Sadly, our pool closes Oct. So I am pushing to swim every day until then.
WTG everyone!!!! Every success is one step closer to being your healthiest! I work for cardiologists and they are finally on board with the benefits of a low carb diet and are telling all their patients to follow a low carb plan. I'm so happy to see this happening. I think everyone has to tweak their plan around their lifestyle, priorities and preferences but I do believe low carb works. I didn't do any weights today but I did go for a morning walk with my dog which I am trying to do twice a day. Maybe tomorrow I'll try for a weight lifting session. Let's all keep each other motivated. Thanks @AnneofAlamo for starting this thread.
I did it, I did it! Yoga practice #1 down. it was pretty interesting since my dog (that weighs as much as I do) was very curious about what I was doing and kept trying to snuggle or lick my armpits.
Yay!! You go girl!! My dog loves to get on my yoga mat. I normally shut her out of my room because she makes me giggle so hard. Here's a picture I posted on my dog's Instagram feed. She's asking me if she's doing Downward Dog correctly.
I am SO inspired by all of you and just want to cheer you all on!!! Keep on keeping on! I started a new fitness regime this year in January. I had been working out faithfully with a buddy for about four years, but I was still gaining weight and finally had enough... we both started using the My Fitness Pal app to keep track of what we are eating and thankfully that made me aware of exactly how much OVER eating I was doing! Since January, I'm down 32 pounds... it's definitely been slower going, but I'm TOTALLY okay with that as long as the trend is downward. I'm now no longer in the over weight or obese category of BMI which makes me SO happy, but I'd really love to lose at least 10 more pounds... So like I said, I just keep on keeping on. Working out three times a week with cardio (elliptical) and weights... plus not eating all the sweets. Lol!
