April 2017 Look Book - assignments + deadline

WOW thank you Ona!! It's gorgeous @wombat146
@bestcee ask and you shall receive :)

You can feel free to post where you like since all these have been already done - or you can move it when we have the lookbook go live
Thanks Krista, perhaps keeping it until the Lookbook goes live and I can link to where it will available as well. :)

@lmccandless

For the Inspiration article on using BYOC April 17 - I immediately thought all the cute Igeneration elements and Notebook elements and those FAB horoscope signs by Paula would make a really cute All About Me page - inspired by all those graphic resumes that are so popular on Pinterest. I ended up using a bunch of the pocket cards from the BYOC for it too.

I can't use all the kits or it will get too crazy - but what I can do is keep a running log of the designers used and make sure they all get rotated in so everyone gets coverage. Anyway this is what I came up - let me know if you think it's Ok and I'll get a little blurb written up for it. Should I plan to keep it short and all on one page?

Are you struggling finding a page? Or not sure because her papers are on your page, but the rest is elsewhere?
Keela did this page:

Or Jan did this one:

Courtney, it was because I didn't know who is doing the rest...actually I came here to ask if I should upload pages that have already been chosen to the Airtable, but it was because I didn't know if I was meant to pick pages with the papers..... I have done the best I could dealing with my neuro condition, so this is more or less what I did, the right hand site was first, counting per LO and artist, then I moved under each product, all color coded

so now I am trying to look up which page will be best for each, and to work out how Airtable is used .... :)

Just to have this outlined somewhere. Styles info. :)

These are loaded into my SmugMug. I have larger copies as well, but this is just so layout can be thought of, based on count of images.

I'm not sure if I need other pages using styles or that would fall under the person assigned to that page. If I do, I can, just let me know. :)

another wonderful awesomeness!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask,
in the Airtable, should I upload pages that have been chosen already or not?
I am still to look at how to do all the Airtable thing, will get there today latest tomorrow morning, Sarita was helping me with stuff here and for my mum, she also worked in the weekend so we ended up not having time, but I am trying to look it up now, maybe I will work it out on my own too :)

sorry to be a pain, should I upload more than one page with the same products or should I just go for a final choosing being 1 page per two main products?
For example, I have 3 pages with both OLB and SwLiz CutOuts, should IO post the three to Airtable or you want us to make the final decision?
I realize the curating means we are en charge of this, but this being the first time, just trying to make sure... I wont be giving you much work once we did this first one, promise!!!! @lmccandless

@lmccandless Good Morning. :) With what I have in Post #55, should I start typing out information and directions? Not sure if you want me to download one of the templates you posted in DB to try to use? Any particular one to use? Or... hold off. :)

I'm trying to figure out which tmeplate would fit best for mine too Jenn ... do you have any idea which one you are leaning towards? I think I need something that fits irregular boxs (rectangles like A4 or US letter images) bc my page is letter size and the JC are that shape too.

I'm not sure. If I include my images as a larger it would take up too many pages - that might be 6 pages-8, I think! Are the images going to be clickable within the look book for a larger version? If that is the case, I can use smaller images and block them out a bit, like 3 to a page? I really don't have a clue, lol!

I love your page and can't wait to read your article. @jenn mccabe

ok here is a starting point for my Inspiration article (using the PSDs #5 and #13)

I don't have ITC Am Typewriter (sub'd with regular old Am Typewriter for now) but Adobe CC does have Futura PT Book as part of their TypeKit package. I sampled the charcoal you used on the other Intro/Cover files you updated Laura and when I pulled it into PS it read as #565656 (for the grey).

It's very challengeing trying to make it fit a predetermined template ... but I understand it's essential for cohesiveness of the Lookbook! I think it will get easier as we do this more?

So anyway - I filled in spaces with ideas that I thought might fit for now. The written credit list (which would be linked) may be redundant with the images of the kits I used - but I think seeing the kit along with the page in action, fosters ideas and hopefully more buying?

Page 1| PSD template #5 : If the written credits stay - they can be linked to the store. As can the images of the products. We might want to take the written credits out and add them next to the product image? But then spacing gets to be an issue. The other 4 product imagess are on page 4 - again to try in fill in the template space with something. Perhaps they should all be together - all 9 of the kits used?

Page 2 | PSD template #13: The Social Media/Photo Spot/Your Sign - had a pretty color. I just popped in the charcaol grey for now - until it decided what color (if any) from the BYOC should be used.

Page 3 | PSD template #13: same as above.

Page 4 | PSD template #5: The last 4 product images are here. Again can put all 9 together. Fill the space with some other idea? And not sure if you wanted some social media icons - social media links to invite them to share their work? The word GALLERY in the text can link to our gallery. Played with turning/tilting some of the images - but they can be kept straight and linear as the template design is very straight and linear.

the other thing that could potentially fill some of the spaces - is a few graphic resumes that i found on pinterest as the inspiration for this idea? i wasn't sure if you wanted that though? or if that is allowed for this type of commercial lookbook.

Oh, Jenn! Those look amazing! I absolutely love how you broke it down! You've totally inspired me for my article. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

I think we should remove the written credits. Gasp, you say?! Only because we want them to see the bigger version, and make them actually click AND come to the shop. If there are no actual word credit, then they have to click on the thumbnail, rather than type or google. We could also link up your image to the gallery that will supply the credits again. (We could go a step further by linking with images in the credits?)

Simply, a visual representation will pull people to click to see bigger and wanting to get more information. That's just my thought.

No gasp - :giggle

I like the images of the product there too! I totally am thinking miss lili - and the way she would credit her pages with the images of the kits in her credit descriptions. I always loved that!

Yes any mention of kits/products - written or actual images would totally be linked!

Thank you ... and wishing you luck with your article Jenn ... it's tricky!

Feel free to make the final decision. Although please try to include as many Pollys and scrapping styles as possible. I guess the best answer is to choose within the context of what you’re already seeing in Airtable. If I’m doubt, always feel free to ask :)

Ok here’s a full size layout sample page. Thoughts on layout and product image sizes? I think something else is needed to break up the text too.

The first thing I notice is that the images of the papers and elements are swapped from the words... obviously the words are in process, but just didn't want this to later be missed. If this were the person's only opportunity to see the product I would say that the products need to be larger, but this is interactive and people can click over to see all the details. Does this program allow reader to hover and blow up the smaller images by chance? I love the clean look here with focus on the product and glorious art made with it! I think the layout looks amazing!
