Our family calendar has a number of holidays printed on it for other Countries. My youngest was reading what it said for today on our way out to church this morning.
She asked "What is Superbowl Sunday? Is that when they all praise their bowls and say they are super bowls?"

I'm not sure I know what Superbowl is, but I think it's a game isn't it?

It's the NFL (National Football League) Championship Game! Huge deal here in the US and lots of people have big parties with tons of food. Many watch the game, some are just in it for the food. Personally, I am super excited because my favorite team is in it this year. The half time show is usually a big deal, too, featuring a big name performer. This year it's Justin Timberlake. The commercials are always a big draw, as well!! Some of them are awesome!!

My family always has a little party at home, just the three of us. We order pizza, get balloons, and watch the game and commercials. My nine year old daughter LOVES football so much, so she is super excited. Our team (Atlanta Falcons) didn’t make it this year. My husband is pulling for the Patriots because his company is based in Boston and all of his work friends are huge Patriots fans. My daughter is pulling for the Eagles because the Patriots always win.

While it is now one of the biggest sports events of the year, the Super Bowl originally got its name from a simple children's toy. Coined by Lamar Hunt, the Kansas City Chiefs owner, in 1966, the Super Bowl was named after the SuperBall a bouncy ball which was one of the most popular toys in America in the mid-1960s

funny, as Football (not ya'lls soccer) is/was a big thing in America. The players have gotten much flack for their kneeling during our national anthem, and many fans have left the love of the game.
It is a fun game actually.
One of the highlights is the commercials, they are usually pretty good, as they pay millions to have them shown during the game! lol

There is a fun spin off of the Super Bowl The Puppy Bowl is an annual television program on Animal Planet that mimics an American football bowl game similar to the Super Bowl, using puppies

I wouldn't ever know the Super Bowl is happening if it didn't show up in my social media. This is an educational thread for me, even though I've lived my entire 46 years so far in the U.S. No one in my family is sporty.

One thing I learned from a friend yesterday is that despite how popular it sounds the Super Bowl really only captures the attention of a small percentage of Americans. She quoted numbers she read, but I don't remember them.

Good luck to anyone who is rooting for a team! I'll be scrapping with Christa @cfile :D

Now Anne, I LOVE the Puppy Ball!! :)

I will be scrapping. I support the Seahawks and the “Stillers”.

My work had an office in Pittsburgh that I looked after so I would travel there a few times a year. Those fans are CRAZY. The closest I had to yellow was a yellowy/orangey top. They were playing the bengals and lost so I was banned from wearing sport colours after that hahahahaha

The Superbowl is in my city this weekend...and I am staying safe & warm in my home and away from all the craziness! Plus - it's -5 out right now. Have fun with that, Superbowl goers. Lol.

AND...I will be cheering for Justin Timberlake. Likely the only part I will pay really close attention to...and will create layouts while the game is on. :)

We watch the commercials more than the game... we love to play commercial bingo (which reminds me, I need to print out our cards)! We bought a bunch of snacky foods for tonight too. Since my son has to work, it's just the three of us. We told Clara she can have friends over to watch, but not sure who, if anyone, is able to come over. Graham works at a frozen yogurt shop and has been told that they will more than likely be flooded with delivery orders all night.

The froyo shop delivers?! It would be SO dangerous for my wallet if ours did!

They do! Through outside companies like Uber Eats, Door Dash, Postmates, etc. They don't have their own drivers. He said that it's funny to see the order patterns. During a particularly stressful Cubs playoff game last fall, they were completely bombarded with orders... I guess everyone was stress eating froyo!!

I was at the grocery store yesterday to buy stuff I needed for my son's birthday. I was having a family dinner for him. The cashier (who knows me) asks if I'm buying stuff for Superbowl tomorrow. I told him no but then again, I forgot it was superbowl tomorrow. Yeah, we aren't into watching football games or following NFL in general. I know my husband will catch up on news and scores but we don't really follow football. Now, basketball, I can tell you what's going on :giggle

I'm intrigued by the commercial BINGO!! Please share how it works, do you make your own cards?!!? I'll stick the game on just to play BINGO at catch JT.

Are we supposed to kiss or catch this little cupid LOL!!! What kit is he from?!!?

Right!! So much yummy food!! And it's usually just snacks so it's easy to go wild and eat all the things! :pigout

The food, OMG! How did it ever become the first big excuse of the year for us to break our diet resolutions!

We don't watch tv in our house at all. Not normal tv, we watch netflix and youtube, that's about it. And we are SOOO far from 'sporty'. NHL, a little, I was in it until they broke my heart and we broke up in the end of 2007. I don't talk to them anymore. :giggle

That being said, @cfile, @michelepixels, @Jems (and others) and I will be scrapping for TheLilyPad Bowl. GO PADDERS!!!!! :grouphug HUT HUT! :cheer

I print ones I find online. Here are some choices...

These are just by advertiser...

Hmmmm... we usually print ones out that have references to what happens in the commercials themselves... but I'm not seeing any like that this year. Maybe advertisers kept their commercials under wraps this year. That may be a good thing though because we did have quite a few "discussions" about which commercials fit which references. Advertiser bingo is much more exact!

We usually have candy prizes... and we tend to play bingo for everything (we even usually print out ones for the Oscars). :-)
