Wake up call | Pad Patter 2.1.17

I wake to hubby’s shower door closing and then laze in bed until I hear him squeegee the walls. Then I get up. This is anywhere from 3am - 3:30am.

I feel so very old fashioned...our clock radio goes off and hubby kits snooze at least twice before he can mobilize enough brain power to actually get up. In the previous ten minutes - he is getting up.
I can bounce out of bed anytime.

It's usually the noise my husband makes getting dressed in the morning - the closet door, dresser drawer, jingling belt buckle, etc.

I have to wake up for work at around 5:15 am every day, and I have a tendency to sleep through alarms, which is weird because I’m an extremely light sleeper but not with this. So, I set 3 alarms on my phone.

I also put my phone on the other side of the room, so I have to physically get out of bed to hit the snooze button, which I also do 3-4 times. I do realize this is pathetic. :D

My DH is so sweet to get up first with our youngest and make her breakfast, then they get me up and I help her get dressed and ready for school. It's usually about 6:50 - 7:00 am. After she leaves at 7:20 I take a little time for myself and then wake up our other 2 girls for homeschool.

I use an alarm clock with the radio setting on. I'm like a cobra with my speed of smacking the snooze button though, so I don't hear more than a few seconds of the song. Lol. THEN I wake up when my phone alarm goes off because that means I really have to get up. It's ridiculous really, but the joy of snoozing and going back to sleep even for 10 minutes makes me so happy. It's probably partly because i have to wake up before 6:00am and be out the door by 6:30... that's just too early for this night owl. :)

I am not a morning person at all! My alarm goes off earlier than I need it to because I hit snooze at least 3 or 4 times every morning! When I was younger and I had an earlier start time for work, I used to keep my alarm clock on a dresser across the room so that I had to get out of bed and walk across the room to shut it off. Then I got a normal 9 to 5 job and I started using an old iPod as an alarm clock on my nightstand. I never woke up when it played music though so it had to be the loudest and most annoying alarm sound I could find. Now I use my Apple Watch, which I got for Christmas. I wear it to track my sleep anyway so why not use it as an alarm too. I still hit snooze a few times but it's hard to ignore the thing vibrating on my wrist. It has definitely been better than being startled awake by an airhorn alarm sound!

Anymore I wake up to total silence, total darkness, anywhere from 3ish to 5ish. No alarm necessary, my body apparently likes me to have minimal sleep. Sigh... Actually this was a plus during January, since I was able to get a head start (or even complete) the challenge for the day before I had to start getting ready for work at 7.

I have the dog alarm. She starts howling between 7 and 7:30am most days. Unless, it is raining, then she sleeps in but my internal clock usually gets me up about that time anyway. Hubby's alarm usually goes off around 7:30am during the week.

Sometimes I hit the snooze on the dog - i.e. I ignore her until she starts howling again, about 10 to 15 minutes later. It is actually funny, she used to be crated at night so she used the howling to wake me up since it was her only choice. Now she is lose and could come upstairs, but she prefers to stay in her warm bed on the couch and howl until I come downstairs.

glad you found a silver lining - i hate insomnia, my barely silver lining is i have 'listened' to a lot of books over the years because of it!

Definitely that sound from across the room would get me out of bed! Not sure starting everyday day with a heart attack sounds appealing, lucky you got that watch!

ok i've been this person in the past, doesn't hearing even a snippet of a song set your brain off singing the rest so the extra 10mins is just the song going round and round in your head? And cobra whacking my own head to shut the song up if i don't like it doesn't seem to work :duh

not pathetic -clever! i do the multiple alarm thing for earlier than normal days and important events (like chats and speed scraps!)

Garry snoring....always. However, the other day it was a neighbors dog that woke me up because it scared Fatty who was sleeping on my legs and he scratched me...that dog barked for a good 45 mins at 3:00 AM!
we have 2 fish tanks inside now and despite the noise of pumps and filters etc i value the fact that i can't hear fish calling me for food or attention at all hours of the night - the bird, well, he's ok as long as no one else is making noise.

i am very fortunate I don't have to have an alarm... my alarm comes in the form of a husband, who very considerately wakes me up at 5am each morning. I am not being snide or sarcastic, either. My husband typically is up before his own alarm at 4:10am- ish, he quietly leaves the room and hangs out by himself with coffee for 45ish minutes, pours my coffee so it cools down for me, and then comes to wake me up...

It's bliss. and I hate when it doesn't go this way. I don't tell him near often enough how grateful I am for this. I mean, I tell him sometimes, but not enough. But it's probably one of my favorite things he does for me.
