Toothpaste Question | Pad Patter Jan 3

How do you get your toothpaste out of the tube?

  • Squeeze nicely from bottom.

  • Squeeze hard anywhere and leave it

For years I used a brand that came in a little plastic, almost like a container instead of a tube. So no real squeezing needed, just keep it upside down and it's easy to dispense. But as of last month, the hubby thought that we should buy toothpaste at Sam's Club. So now we have 6 huge tubes that will last the 2 of us forever. I really hate squeezing and the mess that it makes around the opening, but it will be at least a year before I can go back to my old brand. Oh, and I'm squeezing from the bottom and folding as I go.

ha ha - I can not answer that poll as I do both!! So I squeeze in the middle until it is 1/3 gone or so, then I move it all up from the bottom, fold the bottom up, and squeeze in the middle while folded. Then repeat until finished. Do I get a prize for being unique?

I also use Glister by Amway. We signed up 27 years ago and I am too lazy to search out new brands when I can click and order online.
my parents used Amway and were distributers back in the late 60's and early 70's.. up until Dad passed, he still used SA8 for the laundry with the prewash and also LOC :) We used it all, but never used the tooth paste!

This is what I've been using for a quite awhile. My hubby and I each have our own tube so he can mangle his and I can keep mine mostly neat. :giggle I squeeze from wherever until it gets closer to empty and then I start squeezing from the bottom.

We use Colgate Total Whitening (paste), because I don't like gel and my husband doesn't care.

I don't know what the kids use. I believe one is using Aquafresh (kids, pump), one is using a smaller size of the kind my husband and I use, and my daughter is sharing with one of her brothers. They used to all use Aquafresh, but my oldest asked for "regular" toothpaste and that's what I'm buying now. (Usually a multipack with two large tubes and one smaller one; that's why his is smaller, plus I don't trust that the tube won't get mangled if I give him one that is too big. LOL)

As far as squeezing the toothpaste, I flatten from the bottom, but I don't roll up. I just prefer the way it looks when one end is nice and flat and the other is round and full. I honestly don't know what my husband does; I think he squeezes in the middle, near the end, because it is slightly out of shape when I use it, but not much.

Colgate.
I squeeze mostly from the bottom. The mangled tube doesn't bother me as much as crud all caked around the top opening - how do kids do that??!!?

I am definitely a squeezer, but with the new tubes, it doesn't seem to cause a problem?! Oh and Colgate - always :)

We use either the Crest or the Colgate for Sensitive Teeth. I don't have a brand preference but I really dislike any Winterfresh/Spearmint flavored toothpaste

I agree I'm a squeeze girl then then at the end I work from the bottom up and then cut off the top to get the remaining, Yah I know, but you know how much toothpaste is really left in those tubes and this toothpaste is expensive. I have what my dentist says....... unlucky with my teeth. I do everything correct and still something is always wrong. sigh.... and I have a fear of the dentist....... not good...

My husband likes the extreme clean like you @AnneofAlamo

I love this Crest Cinnamon. And sadly it is hard to find at a lot of stores... I know from experience :disagree

As for my daughter, she used to use Crest Kids Pro Health. However, earlier this year, she developed an allergy to something in the toothpaste. It was NOT a fun experience. We switched to the kids mint from Tom’s and she is good now.

Sooooooooo here we are in the midst of Month of Challenges
and
I am wanting to know more about YOU!
There are two very important questions in this thread!
First off?
What kind of toothpaste do you use?
I use
AquaFresh Extreme Clean for my chompers

my kids are Colgate kids, I was a Crest kid, but my kids hate it! lol, but no cavities so I don't argue.

Then................
are you a neat toothpaste squeezer?

I am not!

I was very up front before I got married, as my husband is press from the bottom kinda guy.
He used to fix ours daily. Now I just have my own, and the toothpaste people invented a way cool tube, so you can't tell I am a squeeze it in the middle kinda gal!

I use Sensodyne True White Extra Fresh, and DH uses Colgate Optic White Platinum Express White.

I'm definitely a neat squeezer. Squeeze from the bottom and gently (and evenly) push it up. Type A at work.

*pouts* I can't vote - I do both...but I'm the only one that uses the gel type, wheee.

I squeeze anywhere but it seems like my Sensodyne just works it’s way to the top automatically. When I was a child, I remember my dad making a toothpaste tube key (for lack of a better term) out of red plexiglass to expel the toothpaste.

I have to squeeze from the bottom haha. I used to use the same toothpaste (Aquafresh Extreme Clean) but had to switch to Sensodyne for my sensitive teeth.

This is a perfect thread for my little dental hygienist heart!!! :beat :goldstars

We all use a different one at my house- hubby uses whatever samples I bring home for him (he has NO opinion on tp thankfully!) Daughter likes minty stuff, son hates mint- so lately I've brought him home our kids bubblegum flavored tp. I use a prescription strength fluoride tp (we sell Clinpro- but there are many similar kinds out there...) for my SUPER sensitive teeth & roots.

I have a professional opinion on Colgate total- most of my patients that use it actually get more tartar/calculus build up- especially behind their lower front teeth above the gumline. I also recommend they switch. :shrug With Crest Pro-health- make sure yours is newer & doesn't have the little blue microbeads (read: plastic) that have since been outlawed in the US. I find them under people's gums ALL.THE.TIME! Just think everywhere else in your digestive tract those little plastic beads get stuck!?!?

I used to LOVE the cinnamon crest that Desi posted- but it's discontinued! :( (I even had our rep track me down some sample sizes!!!)
I love this Crest Cinnamon

No! I had no idea Crest Cinnamon was discontinued :cry No wonder I am having a hard time finding it. I will definitely stock up on as much as I can use before the expiration when I run to the store that has it next time.

I think it was just in our 'area' so hopefully you're not in the PNW! ;) You can always do amazon! lol!

So, professional hygienist :flirty @amien1 What do you recommend for people who toothpaste makes you nauseated?

The current tube we are using is arm in hammer peroxicare or something. I'm not fussed... we use whatever. I squeeze from the middle till it is almost gone, then I squeeze from the bottom to make sure we got it all out before buying a new tube of whatever husband buys that time.

Hmm. Do you know what it is that makes you nauseous? Fluoride can if you swallow it- but the amount in over the counter toothpaste is pretty minimal. I would go with a bland/mild flavor- we have a vanilla mint that is pretty good for people who don't like the stronger minty flavors. You could also try some of the kids' toothpaste as it's usually flavored less.
