What'cha want for Christmas? | pad patter 12.11.17

I had a hard time thinking of much for my list too, but as usual I do have some art supplies that I want. Maybe not super exciting for them to buy, but I sure do enjoy getting them and using them. :) I also like to put art books on my list because I love to look through them for inspiration.

For YEARS the only thing I ever asked for for Christmas was a new external hard drive. My hubby got so sick of buying them for me, but I like to get a new one each year even if it's not bigger, just so that old one won't die on me. They are so dirt cheap I call that cheap insurance on my digi stuff. I actually got one this year that was a 4TB for $99. I had to buy that myself though because my husband refuses to buy my anymore EHDs! :giggle

I was thinking of getting a new EHD, but hubby said he wouldn't know which one to get and I haven't had time to look. What kind did you get and where did you buy it? If I gave him all the details then he could get that for me and it'd be perfect.

My husband gets so annoyed with me too about gifts. All of the stuff on my Amazon list is "boring" apparently. I put school books, parenting books, toys/games that I would use for listening/speech practice for my boys, read aloud books for my kids....He says those aren't things for me. But that's what I want! So I went in and added a few "fun" things just for him...a planner and some indoor planters. That's about all I want.

Of course his list is filled with lots of 200-800 dollar gifts. Haha!

This year I asked for PS Elements (but I have a feeling no one got it for me), a few cook books, a new cheese grater (professional version - all metal), a meatloaf pan, and some wire baskets to hold fruit on the counter. I will also take sweaters, scarves, and nightgowns because I can always use those if they are in the right colors.

Here is an idea - there is a neighbor that throws her own pottery. She tends to use the same patterns/colors from year to year. About 3 years ago, I started buying pieces in white with black stripes or dots for my sister-in-law. This year I got her wine glasses with pottery steams and glass bowls. I got another friend a coffee mug. One year I got friends cheese platters in the shape of a giant leaf.

My gift, though it's not really a Christmas gift and just coincidentally is occurring a couple weeks afterward, is a trip to San Diego to see my family for the first time in 5 years! We hadn't been able to afford to. But my husband's business is having a meeting there in January and he said he'd feel silly going without me AND the business is helping with the cost. :yippee

I'm so excited I don't even mind that it'll cut into my MOC time. I'll still check into the forums, but probably won't scrap much, if at all.

Oh! But I will have lots of photos to scrap when I come back. I just rented another lens, and since it's so inexpensive and LensRentals is having a deal for one week free, I'm keeping it from tomorrow until I get back from San Diego! It's the 24mm pancake lens, so it's wider than my usual 50mm, and so much lighter. Perfect for traveling.

So I can call that a gift too!

My husband and I don't exchange gifts much. We like to just get what we want when we want it. He did mention something he'd like several weeks ago and I found it, so he's in for a surprise this year. I also forwarded him an email from Clickinmoms when they were offering a discount on gift certificates for their classes, so maybe I'll find that. But with the San Diego trip (which is still going to be expensive), I'm not expecting it. So it would still be a surprise! :D

Oh I was reminded last night the best gift I got last year, that I didn't even know I wanted/needed. Super soft fleece sheets, perfect for cold nights as they do not get cold like cotton ones and are softer than flannel ones. Just be sure to read the reviews so you get a brand that holds up to repeated washings without getting pills. I should have asked for a second set.

last year, I bought a lovely necklace. small diamond drop. I wrapped it and put it under the tree. I told no one. When they brought it to me to open, I was surprised and oh so grateful. When I opened it, my hubs said, I was the best wife ever! My kids were in awe of Dads perfect pick for mom!

I didn’t really have any thing specific on my wishlist but a couple of weeks ago I saw some new plus size activewear and I showed it to my mum yesterday when we were out and she bought it for me. Apart from that the only thing I ask for is $$ or gift vouchers

My husband is giving me the same annoyed speech. I can't help it! I'm not into material things this year. I think I'll just point out that he has basically let me take over the desktop computer, and what more could I ask for then that? :giggle

I finally told him I want a small dumbbell set. - 5lbs and 10lbs. And a 5 year journal. And I always accept pens - especially colorful ones with fine points. He's not impressed.

I have a suggestion list for my mom and siblings. For DH, I've been dropping hints so I'll see what he gets. I need a remote for my camera, a photography book I saw at Costco and fuzzy warm socks. He knows I frequent Starbucks so highly likely I'll get a Starbucks gift card :giggle

We are not exchanging this year. Our Ireland trip was a big enough expense ... and we have been going on little getaways to Montreal to see concerts or treating ourselves to day trips to NYC for concerts. Even our gift buying for the kids is going to be super paired down and simple this year. Really ... time with my kids (older teens) is what is most important to me right now!

But usually I love anything photography/camera oriented ... crafty/planner related ... or warm cozy chunky sweaters/cardigans/scarfs/gloves.
