I truly try not to complain about a lot of things, but I did gripe and moan quite a bit yesterday about the end of daylight savings time. I really, truly, and with every fiber of my being hate it :groan Yeah, yeah, extra hour of sleep blah blah :blahblah :giggle. I would gladly give up a whole nights' sleep to keep the time the way it was! I just have no energy when the sun goes down. You might as well just tuck me in to bed. And I know in the days to come, I will barely get home from work and it will be dark. Here lately it's been dark when I leave my house for work in the morning, but I much prefer that...and I get to see some gorgeous sunrises! I guess I will just start counting the days until it changes back :waiting.

What about you? Love the time change? Hate it? Don't even have to worry about it because yours never changes?

I'm with you on being less energetic when the sun sets, even with the sun just low in the sky. And it's low in the sky for a lot of the day in Virginia, or hidden by tall trees.

But what's even more annoying is that our government/society is so slow to change something that really serves no purpose now.

I hate it too. I wish they would abolish it. I don't mind so much if its dark when I wake up but I hate the loss of daylight in the afternoon/evening once the time changes.

I think daylight savings should be the standard time and abolish the time change. I’d much rather have more light in the evenings. I too get more tired and want to go to sleep when the sun goes down.

Totally agree!

My mom said "But it's so much nicer to wake up when it's daylight" and I said "I get up at 5, it's always dark when I get up" LOL

Yep, that's me! I'd like them to keep it on DST.

love it! but oh is it a doozy for my boys! They were up at crack of dawn this morning! lol, I put a stack of books in each room, told them to come out at 730...so mom can have a short time alone with her coffee! lol

I love spring ahead as I like DST... I will admit when I bar hopped in my younger days I always loved the "Fall Back" as it was an extra hour I would be hanging out with my friends etc :)

Yes! Everyone here was up early as well and I missed some "me" time. They may pay for that later lol

I may or may not admit to that as well haha. I may have not hated it so much in college lol

What I like... the extra hour of sleep this morning... especially since our smoke alarm went off for no reason around 4:30am.

What I don't like... how early it gets dark. The reason why is that I don't like my kids wandering about the city after dark. Alex drives most of the time, but Clara still takes public transportation a lot of the time. And they are always off on some adventure which is fine when it's light out, but feels more dicey when it's dark out.

Our sunset will be about 4:54pm today. That is absurd. Sunrise tomorrow will be almost 6:40am. The middle school bus comes just before that, so kids are heading to school before the sun rises. *sigh*

When we lived in West Michigan, it wasn't such a problem because we were toward the western edge of the Eastern Standard Time zone. But here, we aren't the furthest eastern location, but we are still quite east...so the clock says the same time as Michigan but it's darker much sooner.

Anyway, my long point is, even within a time zone it can "feel" different, ya know? The sun should set more than a half hour later at my parents' place than it will here. #NotFair! lol

Sorry about the alarm, but glad it was for no reason! I'd say it does feel more dicey in the city at night. I'm not as comfortable even going grocery shopping or something in the evening after dark where we live.

Yep, I know what you mean. I remember visiting my husbands parents who lived west of us, but still in EST and it would stay light much longer than here. Our sunset this evening is 5:21 UGH...before 5 is definitely absurd.

It seems you all want the summer time back but if we stopped having DST then we would go back to the time it is now because winter time is the "real" time. Just saying, :-)

Well, I stayed up an extra hour last night, because I don't know... I was working on the calendar project, so sort of scrapping.

Happy to report the pup-dog adjusted nicely, which surprised me. She started barking at 7:15am the new time, instead of the expect 6:15am new time.

That said, we too are on the eastern edge of the time zone. It will soon be getting dark here at 4:30, with blackness by 5:30 or so. Sigh.

I hate it! I woke up too early this morning and now I'm getting ready to take a nap. Then it gets dark too early. We like to grill a lot, but grilling dinner at 4pm is too early. I like to see what I'm cooking. We like to eat around 6 or 6:30, so that means cooking in the house instead.

I'm complaining about the going back and forth. Why can't we just pick one and stick with it?

I agree with Michele, let's pick one and stick with that. I would prefer the "spring" time so that it stays light later but I would just rather we have one time year round.

One plus to living in Arizona - no time changes! We did live in Texas for a while though and the time changes were tough for me to remember (when during the year, which way do I change the clocks). And then there was no explaining to our dog and later our baby that we were allowed an extra hour of sleep. Of course, with everyone else still changing their clocks back and forth, I have to keep track enough to know when other family is available to talk to (can't call the east coast family too late because they'll already be in bed!)

Hahaha I don't want to stop having DST, I want it to stay on DST and let it become standard :)

I stayed up later last night, too...but then was up at 6:45 new time.

Yep, I was just working outside and thinking now I have less time to do that in the afternoon. We grill a lot, too and it's just not the same by flashlight or spotlight lol.

Move to AZ!! Not only will you have 365 days of sunshine, but you will NEVER have to change your clocks!! The ONLY exception to this is if you live on the Navajo Reservation....but there might even be exceptions to that rule too, IDK.
