I don't do horror movies. So I haven't seen It. Well, a long time ago, my cousin was watching the old one, and I caught about 5 min of it. And it gave me nightmares for a week. But I digress. So, excluding that 5 min, I haven't seen the old or new one. But I do have Facebook, and see the news. And now this creeps me out a little. I don't know the meaning in the movie, don't really care to. But seeing all the red balloons left on grates and such... yep. Totally shiver when I see it....
I love, love, love creepy!! And I love horror movies. Good horror movies that is, not the ones that are just gory. To me that's not scary, just gross. I just commented yesterday that we were 3 days in to October and hadn't watched any scary movies yet *gasp*. My oldest, his girlfriend, my youngest, and I all went to see IT on opening weekend. It was goooood! I'm that person that would leave red balloons around and sometimes send them in random text messages . My daughter was seeing IT the same night we were, but going to a later show. So on the way home, we were figuring out when she would be seeing the creepiest part and had DS's girlfriend (DD doesn't have her # in her phone) send her a single red balloon and then just a message that said "You'll float too". We were cracking up. She did finally figure out who it was, but not after some pretty hilarious reactions.
I do NOT do scary movies! Or sad movies. Basically, if my entertainment doesn't make me feel better when I leave than when I enter, I want no part of it . I'm a wimp and my kids always tease me. I don't even want to hear the sad parts of their books, LOL.
I belong in the 'no horror movies' camp...I saw the original IT when I was in high school and to this day I sometimes get a bit creeped out when standing on the drain grate in the shower when my eyes are closed to wash my hair. For years after I saw it, I used to put a face-washer over the drain while I showered! Irrespective... @IntenseMagic, that's pretty funny!
I'm not good with scary either, I don't think it'll be too long before the gallery here freaks me out on a daily basis
I'm on the fence. The ones that play mental games get me. The ones that I watched when I was younger also got me. I still take a deep breath before I go into the ocean... and Jaws is over 25 years old! Now, if you watch it again, it cracks me up... but back then, I pry watched it too young. There was a short a few years back...Light's Out. There are still days when I turn the lights off and look behind me, or down the stairs. The ending is totally unrealistic, and makes me giggle, but up until that point.... Nowadays, I can usually see/find/look for something that is totally unrealistic, or strikes me as funny, and I can rationally tell my mind to calm down. I can handle scary/horror/gory, but would rather something else.
My hubby wants to go see It in the theaters and I keep putting him off. I can watch scary movies, but I really need to be sitting on the couch next to my hubby while I watch. Lol. I don't want to be freaked out in the theater.
Nope...nope...nope...no horror movies for me....ever. My husband and daughter watch that stuff together. They both love them.
If I knew I'd never have to be alone at night ... I could handle it. But when it's just me and the kids home ... my mind goes off to strange unrational places. I could handle scary movies as a teen/early 20's. But as soon as I became a mom - I just could not deal with them anymore.
Never heard of it, but after reading your post I never want to see it! I don't do creepy, gory, scary, witchcraft, or the like. It totally freaks me out. Give me Mary Poppins any day!
I like thrillers when I'm reading. But I'm not into horror movies or horror events IRL. I'm not going to the Halloween Fright Night events. Nope.
As a kid I never finished the first It movie. It was Halloween when friends & I tried to watch it & got about 20 minutes in. I've seen TONS of scary movies since then & mostly I can find the corny factor so they don't bother me. The psychological gory ones are the ones I'm more scared of but still enjoy watching. Though I still haven't watched the original It all the way, (and I know it wouldn't be as scary as an adult), I still would love to see the new one. Some people described it more along the vein of Netflix's Stranger Things in terms of feel & I liked that series & can't wait for season 2.
I cannot do scary either.. in my teens and early 20's we would go as a group to see the Friday the 13th movies and all of those Halloween Jason movies, but then that was it. I never saw nor want to see "It".. I have a huge dislike for clowns too! That movie "Silence of the Lambs" and the sequel Hannibel Lector I will never watch.. My husband if he picks to watch it, I will leave the room. He teases me with making the noise and then saying about the farba beans and a nice chianti and I scream and run out of the room as he laughs. UGH I hate scary movies.. I won't watch American Horror Stories or whatever that is called either. I hate slash movies! LOL
I don't do horror/scary movies either. I don't even like Law and Order SVU! My DD 17 asked if she could go to IT with some friends and I told her no way because it'd be too scary for all of them. Heck, they can't even go to the bathroom alone, what makes them think they could handle a horror movie... hehe! Plus, I don't want her getting scared and thinking she needs to sleep upstairs in our room, since she's the only one in the basement now.
THIS, especially when it comes to the gore!! Huge difference! That sounds like something hubby and I would do to the girls ROFL!!! This is me, but with gore...I used to be able to watch surgery's when they had them on channel 8 I think it was and eat a meal...but the more kids I had the queasier I got.
