Splints Removed - yee haw!!!!

Eryn - did you need to have jaw surgery to correct your open bite? That is the next surgery that I likely will need to have. My lower jaw sits too far back so it impedes my breathing and renders me chinless - I also have a gummy smile, which I hate. From what I understand mandibular advancement would cure all these things even though the thought of having my jaw broken ON PURPOSE is a little bit crazy for me. Eating from a syringe for a month doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun either. My mom had the surgery about 20 years ago and I guess I inherited this problem from her. :helpy

lol! Duh me ...of course it was just the breathing thing! Mine was a lot more complicated!

That is awesome honey! I feel for you, my brother had a deviated septum and had the same surgery when he was a bit younger. I remeber how uncomfortable he was initially after his procedure!

yep! But these days they can fix most of those problems with special braces. If you find an orthodontist who uses the special technique (will find the name) then you may not need the surgery.

And eating through a syringe sucks! Especially when your Dad tries to be really helpful by pureeing a pork roast including veg and apple all together! :D

....need to scrap that :think

that's funny - did it taste good? My mom just drank milkshakes for a couple weeks - her jaw wasn't wired or banded shut so she didn't ever have a syringe.

Yay, Tiki! Glad they're out and you're feeling better! That must have been so uncomfortable.
