What kind of mouse do you use?
Do you use a trackpad? A wired mouse? A wireless one? Keyboard shortcuts only?
Mine is a wired gamers mouse. So it has weird buttons on it and a crackly pattern that changes colors.
But it has a scroll wheel! And I depend on that sucker!
I always turn the trackpad off on laptops because I can't stand them! I always accidentally hit the buttons and make a mess of things.

You didn't really think I was going to ask about this kind did you? :giggle

We used to be wireless, caused too many headaches with our desktop so just a normal wired mouse. Next computer back to wireless I think.

And could not live without the scroll wheel..

i'm wireless at the moment (one of DH's 'old' ones - he upgrades mice occasionally) after the bird chewed thru the cord on the last one... again. Love the scrolly wheel - can't stand laptop track pads, i just can't scrap with it and the 'button' areas drive me crazy

and yes, i thought u were going to ask about the squeaky sort!

Wireless mac mouse that has a wheel-function but not a real wheel. But not for scrapping, then I use a Wacom pen.

For school, I'm working on a laptop with a trackpad.

I use a wireless mouse... all Logitech... M510 at work M310 at home.

I too turn off the trackpad on any laptop I use, I hate them. I am a bit in awe of people who can use a laptop without a mouse though. :giggle

Right now I have a wireless gaming one that I'm not loving simply because of the way it's shaped lol I bought it because it's orange and my laptop has orange accents. I don't normally do that. I like to feel up all the mice before I buy one :giggle, so I'll probably be getting another before long. And yes, neeeed the scrolly wheel!!
I'm another that turns off that trackpad. I cannot use that thing to save my life. It's not an issue when I'm at my desk because I also use a wireless keyboard.

I use the wireless Magic Mouse - I'm a Mac girl. I have the wireless track pad as a backup for when I forget to recharge my mouse. I have let my mouse go down to the point it just literally stops working bc of not recharging. It even happened during an exam for school and it is not a good feeling (panic during a timed test!) so I like having another option.

? for mac girls: Anyone know if on the Macs - you can have a little status icon with mouse battery level visible at all times? (I know I can open system preferences to see battery levels but I want something visible all the time.) Like up near the date or something ... I get the notification reminder that pops up but even that doesn't always help me bc if I am in the middle of using the mouse - I am not going to stop (that's how much I hate the track pads!) and plug it in immediately. Then when I'm done working on my computer w/mouse ... of course I walk away without plugging it in. The stupid Mac mouses have the power plug slot underneath the mouse (dumb dumb dumb!) so you cannot charge and use it like you can the track pad or keyboard.

you made me look at what mine is!
my eldest son bought my M310 for me and it is a gorgeous red! It is about ready to be put in the trash. Time for a new one.

I am using a trackball, both at home and at work. Good thing about it (apart from that it is awesome) is that nobody else ever wants to use my computer as most people are not comfortable with / used to them.

I haven't used a computer mouse in years & years & years. Maybe not since my daughter was born 8 years ago.

I'm a trackpad ride-or-die.

tee hehe... I thought you were asking about the squeaky kind of mice when I saw the title. I was all ready to come in and say that thankfully we haven't seen any mice around. I think it's been since the neighbors with the killer cats moved in next door. Their cats are freaky scary and hiss at you. One attacked my backyard neighbor when she was trying to shoo it away from her dog's feeding bowl. She had to get stitches in her hand! Needless to say, we steer clear of those cats.

I'm with you gals on not liking laptop track pads. I have a cute designed wireless mouse that has a scroll wheel. I LOVE the scroll wheel and am lost when I use a computer that doesn't have one.

I bought my mom that same pattern!

Yep! Me too!

I have wireless on the laptops.

Wireless with a scroll wheel!
:agree

after the bird chewed thru the cord on the last one... again.
Um, yeah. That's definitely a good reason to be wireless!

Lol. Yep! One of the laptops has 510 and one has 310!

:compcoffee

Intriguing. My dad has this set up, but he has a smaller screen and a smaller keyboard than my laptop. Does that make a wireless keyboard better than the built in one?

Rechargable mouse? Hmmm.....

my eldest son bought my M310 for me and it is a gorgeous red
I have a red one! And a purple one. And right now a blue one on the laptop.

Since 2011, when I bought my first iMac, I've been using the Apple Magic Trackpad, and I love LOVE :love it. It's so easy to use and my hand feels so comfortable and free. I'm still using the same one I bought in 2011. One of the feet is taped back in after having fallen out last year, but it's still working as well as ever. Here I found a stock image of it . . .

And here's an old photo (from Dec 2015, the same month I started hanging out here at TLP :wub ) You can see the trackpad pretty well, sitting to the right of my keyboard. You can also see my desk is not always neat. :giggle And I found so many photos of my desk by searching "desk" on Smugmug (where I back up all my photos) that I'm now inspired to make a layout on the theme "Evolution of My Desk." Or maybe I'll be more specific and title it "Love for the Apple Magic Trackpad" since all the photos I collected show that pretty well.

I love the way every time I visit this forum I'm inspired to scrap.

p.s. (adding now that I've read the whole thread; see I love my trackpad so much I was so excited to write my own post before I read others') Unlike most others here, I like laptop track pads. At least I did in 2008-2011, the only time I ever used a laptop, before I got my iMac. I like the motions of using trackpads and not having to drag a mouse around on a desk.

As for the "mouse" in the title, it made me think of Mickey Mouse when I first saw it, because of the Disney themed stuff that's popular among some here.

The reason I use the wireless keyboard is because of the way my desk is set up. The laptop and my external monitor sit toward the back of the desk side by side, and then I use the wireless keyboard on the slide out keyboard tray thingie. That way I can have the screens right next to each other without having to reach for the laptop keyboard.

@LeeAndra I am also Team Trackpad.
@bellbird , my computer cord is patched in *several* places. If I don't put it back in the drawer, one of the cats will chew on it. She's obliterated several sets of headphones and one iPod shuffle charge cable.
