My husband and I were so excited to watch Snowden when it came out on Netflix. And then, Nicholas Cage showed up. Both of us groan simultaneously. Then Shailene Woodley appears (in possibly a terrible wig? Or just, really bad hair?). And... we just turned it off. Two actors I can't stand in one movie, not worth it. Even Joseph Gordon-Levitt can't make up for that.

Do you have actors that ruin movies for you?
 
ROFL. I don't know if I have any bad actors. I think there can be bad actors for a particular role. Like I hated Christian Bale as Batman, but overall he's a good actor. KWIM?
 
Yes I can relate but cannot think of an international example right now.

It's usually not about them being bad actors. It's about me not liking their personality. Or rather the public things I know.
 
Russell Crowe ...can stand him. Don't know why. Just irritates me ha!
 
My eyes roll when I hear that Keanu Reeves is in a movie but I really did enjoy the John Wick double. Does he have more than 1 facial expression and we just haven't seen it?

All he does is his version of Blue Steel

Oh my gosh! He totally pulls me out of Les Mis. He may not be a great singer, but he looks horrible next to everyone else!
 
I won't watch anything with Tom Cruise because he is a jerk and assists the Scientologist with their cult. I also won't watch anything that is associated with Woody Allen anymore because of his sexual abuse of his children.

For those that I just don't personally think are good actors so that I think they ruin movies -- Laura Dern, Russell Crowe, Kristin Stewart, Kevin Costner.

I feel that way about Scarlett Johansson. I'm sure she's a great actress and I'm forced to watch her in the Marvel movies but I'm not a fan.
 
I'm not a huge fan of Kevin Spacey. My husband thinks he is great. Oh well. I agree about Nicholas Cage but thought the Snowden movie was interesting to say the least.
 
I'm so glad I'm not the only one! It's not about their personality or public life, it's just that I can't stand their faces and the way they talk! And I find men more annoying than women. I can't stand Nicolas Cage and a blonde guy -I don't bother googling his name- that he was on "True detective".
As for Kevin Spacey, I didn't like him because of the American Beauty movie. But I loved him as Frank Underwood!

Nicole Kidman makes me cringe every time I see her.

Nicolas Cage, how he gets cast in anything anymore is beyond my comprehension, and I also will not watch a Woody Allen Movie, that is way too much dodgy personal history for me to put up with. Oh and Adam Sandler, loved The wedding Singer (and Hotel Transylvania but that doesn't count as I don't have to look at him), hated/will not watch anything else of his...

Oddly enough, could not stand Jude Law when he was younger - now, just adore him :love
 
I'm with Debbie, I cannnnnnnot stand Will Ferrel. At all. He ruined Wedding Crashers for me. :badmoodAnd every single movie he touches.
 
When I read your title, I immediately thought of Nicholas Cage! :giggle:giggle:giggle:giggle:giggle

I can't stand Martin Short or Dana Carvey and actors or comedians, in general, who rely so heavily on slapstick juvenile humor and not enough on actual intelligent conversation.
 
Nicole Kidman...she grates on my last nerve. In fact I was wasting time and watching something on YouTube where starts are asked 72 (?) questions rapid fire and after one was over Nicole Kidman came up automatically. I really do hope she isn't as pretentious as she came across. gah
 
Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher ...was there ever a mitch match made in hell it was that one , Ugh, A strutting five foot nothing, little twerp playing a taller than six foot bunch of muscle, that can intimidate people just by looking at them.....who on earth cast him for that ? Now I quite like Toms earlier films, but after the Vanilla sky thing not so much...ahh well
