It's finally been in the 80's here for a few days and looks like we're going to have this weather for the next week. So today I got out the flip-flops, did my toenails green and my fingernails pink. It's officially summer here :) I need to clean off the back deck and put the chair cushions out.

What about you?

Much of the same here. When the weather feels warm enough consistently ... we open the pool, take out the outdoor furniture from storage, & plant some annuals. We grill outdoors more and spend more days and evenings outdoors. I love this time of year. :)

It's summer when I can switch from hot tea to iced. That happened this week. It's 'sweet tea' for me but with Stevia.

Oh, I'd love for temps to be in the 80s here! It's been well over 110 the past week which means summer has hit with full force.
Summer is also the time that hubby does a lot of grilling (so the house doesn't heat up with the stove/oven), icy treats and spending time at the pool or splash pads. I also can't wait for the monsoon storms to start. They're amazingly beautiful to watch!

When I wake up on that first weekday and don't have to go to work...summer is here! That moment when I can go out on my deck in the morning with my coffee and my book and lose myself for a while!

Opening the pool always means summer to me (we opened Memorial Weekend).

When school is out, it's summer. Even if it is technically still spring. And we usually take a beach trip in June and that definitely feels like summer has officially arrived.

@Sunberry2 Audrey, where r u located? Monsoons? R u somewhere tropical?

yes having to make my toes look presentable again is pretty much mid spring/summer behaviour here - but 'summer' comes too early really and is when the sun is up and the noisy neighbourhood birds are all going off well before i want or need to be awake - that's the only pro about winter, they sleep in and aren't screeching at each other in the trees (or attacking their reflections in our windows) at least!

When I don't have to set my alarm for a school morning.... that being said my youngest just graduated from High School so this means only an alarm for Sunday mornings!! Oh Yah!

It's summer when it's too hot to be outside!

Honestly, regardless of school schedules, weather, etc. It's summer from Memorial Day until Labor Day for me.

Interesting question. I'd have to say school getting out marks the beginning of summer around here. It's been hot for months (our kids have been in the pool since March). Flip flops pretty much year round. School gets out the last week fo May, so that next week in June is SUMMER. (forget what the stinking calendar says, LOL)
