I know some of you rebels and lovers of plastic trees still have Christmas up in your house...in mine it is gone! I would do it Christmas afternoon, if my family would let me!
but everytime.
I take all down...slick as can be.

I box it all up nice and neat.
Have hubby haul it out and store it for me.
I vacuum, dust the house to sparkle.
ahhh all gone.
I sit down, relax with a well deserved afternoon coffee..
feet up and
insert screeching music here!
a little wreath on one wall I totally missed!
I seriously just want to throw it away!
so now it sits on top of the Christmas bins...cause I am too lazy to pull them down and put it in!
Does this only happen to me? Please make me feel better and tell me your left over Christmas woes!

I ❤️ Christmas. We took our tree down this morning and it felt good. We had our tree up before Thanksgiving, but we waited till after Thanksgiving to put the ornaments on though.

I did leave up the wall decorations....

EVERYthing is still up here and it's making me crazy. We usually get back into town on a Saturday and school starts on Monday... so we put all of the decorations away Sunday after church. This year Clara went back on Wednesday, so we drove back Monday and my husband flew out the next day for Florida. It takes me longer when it's just me and the cleaning lady was coming Thursday. I decided that I would leave it alone so she could really clean vs. there being boxes everywhere. It will all go away tomorrow though and I can't wait!

Last year after everything was put away I found my daughter's Nutcracker snow globe on the bookshelf. Is it wrong that I left it there and hid it behind books?

Not there yet. I'm sure hubby will be and it will probably go down tomorrow. I just have been sick all week so enjoying it while I can.

Well, I don't do Christmas but am still glad to see the stores get back to normal. I mean, when it all starts before Halloween, THAT is depressing!!!! I pretty much stay away from the stores from after Thanksgiving until after New Year. Don't get me wrong. I love the joy and happiness that abounds everywhere; just hate the commercialism!!!
I put out a few snowman decorations and that's about it.

I took everything down the day after Christmas, like I always do, mostly so I can have a few days of relaxation before going back to work. I box it all up, carry it all upstairs, move things, shove it in the attic, move things back... and then there will be that one thing :hairpol...every. single. year. This year I even asked DH, "did I miss anything". "Nope" he says. I sit on the couch with my fluffy blanket, stretch out, and there it is...mocking me... the Santa pillow. First, I just throw it up the stairs. Then later, open the attic door just enough to squeeze it through.

And then there was this... I forgot to send the Elf away on Christmas Eve. So as I was passing out gifts on Christmas Day, I slyly pushed him under the chair in the living room. I forgot. A few days later, the cat was playing with things under the chair and managed to scoot the Elf so his legs were hanging out from the front of the chair. Chance freaked...wth is the Elf doing under the chair!! And we can't touch him lol. The next morning before he got up I picked him up and shoved him in my desk. Chance never gets in there. I'm cooking dinner a couple of days later and I hear "Mom, come quick!!" Yep, he opened the door to my desk. *sigh*

We took our stuff down on Sunday, but I missed two wreaths, a ceramic deer, and the lights around the lamppost. I think they will all stay where they are until I'm tired of looking at them.

I was so sick for the last 2 weeks, I feel like I missed the whole holiday. I hardly got to look at my tree, and now it's gone.

Nope ... not just you. This seems to happen to me every single year. (last year it was 2 little door hanging decorations that I missed, the year before it was a wreath, and so far this year I haven't found anything. I might have broken the curse!) And you sound like me ... that is exactly how it happens in my house too ... with the hubby storing it, and me cleaning the house to a sparkle. Except I do it New Year's Day.

I just thinks it's depressing for the kids to have to go back to school after the long break and then come home and see Christmas is still up. Makes it harder for them ... so I prefer a clean start to the new year .... time to move on and embrace the year.

Last year after everything was put away I found my daughter's Nutcracker snow globe on the bookshelf. Is it wrong that I left it there and hid it behind books?
Nope!
We put Christmas away yesterday. (DH wanted it up longer because he didn't get to enjoy it much with work and visiting family). And then I found a little nativity. Just Mary, Joseph and Jesus, about 6 inches tall, and 4 inches wide. I shoved it back behind the normal tchotchkes that are out year round. I am not going to pull everything down to put it away.

:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl I have a little hanging, sewn angel doll, with lovely little wings and a golden jingle bell in her hands..........it was left out a couple of years ago after I packed everything up............ and she is still here, hanging up in my craft room!! :lmao:lmao I can't put her away now, we've become really close friends!!! :giggle:giggle:giggle

I did much the same, packed everything away and was delighted then DD brings out a Christmas Star and I just popped it on top of the box, meaning to get around to putting it inside with it's friends. Leaving it out will collect too much dust. Hopefully I will get it done sometime after MOC and before Easter!

If I could ,it would go back in its boxes before new year, but my hubby thinks it's a shame, because apart from the advent ring, our decorations don't go up until mid December. But usually Jan 1st it goes down. This year I was a bit late, but it is all gone....... apart from 1tiny glass angel. Lol

I couldn't wait to pack it all up. It was gone in the 30th and it's the soonest i've taken it down.

mine was down the tuesday after. just found an ornament under the couch last night. kitten argh. i think it will sit on my desk for months before it makes it way down!

Everything came down on Jan 1st. Usually there is something I've forgotten in the packing so it'll sit on top of the bins in the under-stairs storage or shoved into the wrong bin but I'm optimistic this year....I think I got it all put away. I did have to remind my hubs this morning to take down the lights outside around the door either today or tomorrow, since the weather is clear. I bet I will have to remind him a few times as he'll procrastinate and then as soon as it rains he will say he's going to have to wait til the weather clears LOL.

I believe leaving one bit after it's all done is par for the course. Each year I get rid of more and we are down to just two bins...I think. Who knows what might be up in the attic (his office also). Right now, there is one bin upstairs awaiting all the final bits I find. When Dick gets back from FL, he'll put it in the attic so I have a week to find strays.

What is harder for me is finding what I call ...the first bin...of linens, shower curtain and just a few knick knacks in December. I finally labeled a bin, BIN 1. Only took me a couple of decades to figure that one out...

hate when that happens! I do it all the time. *i think* i have everything put away except for the poinsettia plants. Those will probably hang around until I kill them.
