I was a really good girl last year and Santa brought me a new wide format printer. I am going on a scrapbooking retreat with my girlfriends this month, so I am hoping to get most of my 2016 album printed. I decided to bite the bullet and get 12x12 photo paper so I don't have to waste time trimming the 13x19 sheets. Has anyone ordered from Red River? If so, which kind of paper did you get? I am leaning towards the 68lb. UltraPro Satin 4.0 but I need 100 sheets so I would really love to know what you all think of it before I place my order. Thanks in advance for any info!

I have ordered from them before! Their papers are all pretty awesome. I always got Polar Matte (I don't print at home any more, so it's been a while) and was very happy with it. It's a flat finish with zero sheen or gloss, though, so probably not what you're looking for.

They have sample kits that you can order that include sheets of several different papers. Maybe one of those would be a good place to start?

Ohh, so exciting! A 12x12 printer!

I had a free box of their sample 8.5 x 11 papers from ages ago ... I just went through mine and although I do not have the 68lb Ultrapro Satin 4.0 I do have a piece of the 68lb Ultrapro Satin 2.0 paper. It is not as white as some of their other papers. But I pulled out my fave photo paper for my Epson printer (the Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster) and it is super close in texture and color. If the Red River sample paper didn't have a little stamp on the bottom edge, it would be hard to tell which was which.

The website states the 4.0 is a brilliant white now (or something to that effect) but still describes it as a warm tone - which is what I see in the 2.0 version and in my Epson Luster paper. And I save this paper for my most special prints, because I love it so.

I think it would be a great choice for photo printing! And if you want to be sure - I suggest getting a sample like Melissa mentioned.

Hope you totally enjoy the new printer!! I have an older wide format printer that I need to dust off and get some ink for. I miss printing on it. Thanks for the link to the store, I will have to check out the paper as well.

I have an older one too that I haven't printed with in forever. It's actually hiding under my bed. I have most of my work printed at the Office Depot down the street on their matte cardstock because it's so cheap.

@IntenseMagic and @MrsGaramer - I had an oldie too but it was the WORST ink hog. Did you find that to be true? The new ones are supposed to be much more ink efficient, plus the one I just bought uses the same tanks as my regular printers so that makes it really easy to stock up on ink.

YES!!! That's why I don't use mine. It's so much cheaper for me to have it printed even though I have to cut it down. I'll have to check out the new ones. I do miss being able to just reprint if coloring is off.

I'm so jealous! Can't wait for you to tell us how the paper and printing works at home! I might have to use Christmas money and buy one!

That is awesome! I didn't realize you could order 12x12 paper - so good to know! I took advantage of a Canon sale last month and have close to 800 or so 13x19" papers so I'll be set for a while now, but will definitely look into it when I start to need a refill - like in 5 years, lol!

My paper arrived today, so I am hoping to do some test prints this evening. Results to come!
