quick snack attack for hANgry times?| Pad Patter 9.15

Tim Hortons!!!! A quick wrap and a double double. Or if I want sweets I'll get a box of timbits!

Lol... we just got out first Tim Hortons. I'm so used to Dunkin that I'm not sure I'll try it. I'll have to make an effort to try it with my boys!

I decided not to read all the replies, as I am already so hungry I can't explain...
but yes, LOVE the fact that you can get some MC Donald' s stuff for a £1 here... problem with me is, even after a meal (the burger, fries & drink) within an hour or 90 minutes I ll be hungry again...

also, my sugar went last month from 59 to 120....which is one of the reasons my legs are in so much pain too, even though I do almost no walking... so I had to behave and clean up a bit what I am eating.
Having said that, Burger King dropped two days ago a flyer through our letter box..... telling us now they DELIVER....... and I love it a lot more than Mc Donald's...but it is so expensive I doubt we will be getting it :(

I need to find something that has no much calories to much in between meals (and have behavior with eating patterns too) with the amount of pills I am taking at the moment, I need to eat in little bits all through the day ....was thinking about making Kale chips...anyone has tried them?

If I'm out and really desperate, I'll get a McD's hash browns. At home, it's raw almonds or if I need more it's a hard boiled egg. I steam about 9 a week and keep them in the fridge.

While I was on the road a lot last week, I got a bunch of iced coffees and was astounded at the calorie difference between iced coffee and the frappuchinos etc. I always want the caramel flavor....yum!

@MrsPeel I tried to make kale chips and found them disgusting. Finally I tried them out at restaurants, and still wanted to spit them out. I will eat kale cooked in stews etc though.

Oh thank goodness! I thought I was the only one who dislike Kale chips!
@MrsPeel I'm never sure what you have on your side of the pond. I have found some rice cakes that I like - usually the sour cream and onion or garlicky flavored types. I don't like the pretend sweet ones! Apples would be good I bet. They have lots of fiber, and here, different ones are available year round.

to be honest, I think I would have to be on the brink of starvation before I grabbed a snack from most drive-throughs. If I'm going to drive through, i'll get chicken chunks from chick-fil-a or something like that.

most of the time, at home, I will grab dark chocolate or almonds (or both). cheese - we always have cheese handy in the refrigerator. LOVE me some pita w/ hummus & fresh veggies - that's a big fave of mine. for the kids we always have protein bars and greek yogurt on hand. that is a great after-school snack for them to hold them off until dinner.

it's funny to me, though, how my eating habits have changed over the years. I used to be a fast food junkie and super hooked on mt. dew. now, none of it sounds good to me, and when I DO splurge and eat / drink it, I don't like it and I feel awful afterwards.

ohhhh so GLAD to hear!!!! I love kale in stews too, we make a canellini bean soup that adds kale as last step in cooking, and is great... I thought because I like deep fried see weed from Chinese take aways, maybe Kale would be like that...but if you & Court don't like it....I'm quiet sure I wont either!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE Mc Donadls (or anywhere ) hash browns...
I had never tried or even knew the existence of hash browns until I came to England and had them at Mc Donald's, love them but I rather make them at home, they don't have so much oil as McDonalds, the ones I buy frozen, oven cook and love them! wont even talk about coffees or frapuccinos as with the diabetes spike, I m trying to keep away from them!

yes, that is a good idea, rice cakes!!!! we do have them here, I sometimes like the ones caramel flavored but, same as above with flavored coffees & stuff, trying to stay away... now rice cakes are a really good idea, thanks for that!!!
I do have apples sometimes, need to get to the supermarket, the actual store as online (who knows why?) they don't have the apples I like....

I have changed a LOT about the stuff I prefer these days to....only most of the time isn't a question of what I like but what we can realistically cook... I think my spike with blood pressure happened because of so much processed food we were eating (kinda still are) the microwave dinners or TV dinners I think you guys call them, or some pizza we get here 2 for £4, called Ristorante... are delicious, we get margarita & chicken with spinach, ...is very thin, great toppings and taste, but I am sure full of salt...all the "home" fast food like that :(
I'm gonna try to change that as soon as I get someone to come work so I can have someone to help me cook :)

Now I want rice cakes...but I also like whole wheat frozen waffles with peanut butter. More for breakfast but when I've been out a lot in the day, it's great for a missed lunch.
