Are you a podcast gal? I used to listing ALL.THE.TIME. but since I started listening to audiobooks, I let them slide. I do love them, however, b/c I can get through an entire episode in a much shorter time than I can "read" a book. BUT... I'm a little out of the loop now.

Do you listen? And if so, what are your favorite podcasts? Any crafty/scrappy podcasts you listen to all the time? Inquiring mind...

Oh, podcasts. I love them!
Scrappy ones:
Digiscrap Geek Podcast: A Digital Scrapping Podcast. Our own Peppermint of One Little Bird was on the most recent episode.
Paperclipping Roundtable: Primarily a paper scrapping podcast, however, a lot of the episodes delve into why we scrap, and stories. I especially love Ali Edwards talks about stories on it.
The Memory Keeper's Life: Debbie Hodge does this one. Lynn Grieveson was on the June 10th episode!
The DigiShow: Old episodes only, no new ones. But a lot of the information can be inspiring. Peppermint of One Little Bird is a co host on most of the episodes.

I also love to listen to:
America's Test Kitchen Radio - Love listening to them talk kitchen and cooking.
Ask Me Another - Fun quiz type show, sometimes slightly risque with innuendos, but rare.
Wait Wait Don't Tell Me: News quiz show.
Undisclosed: Started out as a Serial Podcast, but is discussing a different case this season.
Criminal: Just celebrated 50 episodes. The lastest one is like a clip show, but gives you a good taste of what it does. Each show is a different story.

I don't really listen to them, but... amazon Prime members (at least here in the States, not sure about elsewhere) just received a new benefit to do with Audible... prime exclusive channels, and streaming only audible books from a specific selection. I browsed through those and can see myself listening to a few. :)

There's two podcasts i listen to regularly, Stuff you Should Know, and one from the UK, No Such Thing As a Fish, which presents facts in a way that leaves me laughing out loud (causing some interesting looks to come my way as I generally have haedphones on).

I hope Australian audible gets the streaming books soon, we seem to miss out on a lot of the perks that american subscribers get...

I listen to a lot of audio books these days, too, though I do still listen to some politically-oriented podcasts (and that's as far as I'll go with that). Our church also releases their sermons as podcasts, which is great when I miss going in person. Most of the time if I'm not listening to a book, I have a TV show or movie that I've seen before on as background noise.

@bestcee mentioned a bunch of the scrapbooking/crafty podcasts that I used to listen to (and I've actually been a guest on Paperclipping Roundtable a few times), but somehow I got out of the habit of listening to those a while ago.

Ooooh, and one of the Star Wars podcast networks is having a special series where several hosts go back and re-read Timothy Zahn's Star Wars novels that were first published back in 1991 and kind of got this whole craze started again. I don't really have time to read them again, so I'm audiobooking and alternating with podcast episodes.

Yes! I totally just saw this! I'm so excited to listen to ScarJo read Alice in Wonderland!

Podcasts are what I listen when I scrap. They are the perfect companion because when I have the TV/Netflix on while I scrap I want to actually WATCH it every now and then. And podcasts are just for your ears. :)

I haven't tried any scrappy ones yet. The ones I listen to are probably also not up for most of you... Let's say they're not G or PG rated.
Anyway, I listen to:
  1. The Gilmore Guys. Veteran fan Kevin T. Porter and newcomer Demi Adejuyigbe go deep into Gilmore Girls episode by episode with special guests to analyze, praise, mock, and gab like gals about all things Stars Hollow and beyond.
  2. The Thumpa Thumpa | Queer as Folk Podcast features episode discussion and analysis with an emphasis on the impact the show continues to have on it's viewers after more then a decade.
  3. Psychobabble with Tyler Oakley & Korey Kuhl - the official free podcast from YouTube sensation Tyler Oakley. Listen each week as he and his bestie Korey Kohl bring you a half hour of unfiltered gossip sessions, pop culture scrutiny, and stories never told before. It's not just crazy talk, it's Psychobabble.
  4. Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig. Hosted by internet superstar Grace Helbig, "Not Too Deep" is a ridiculous, silly and unapologetically superficial interview podcast, that is more about the gaffs than about the feels.

Then I believe were also talking audiobooks? Nice. :)

I have Audible and have looooved listening to audiobooks while on the bus and train. However, I am not driving myself and I can't seem to focus on both the road and the book at the same time. Maybe in a few months. But for now I am singing along to the radio on my way to and from work.

I ended up listening less and less to my books and I have build up 4 credits that I have yet to use.
Last year I started listening to the Earth Children from Jean M. Auel, and those books are LONG. The first two are around 20 hours and the next four are all around 30 hours long. I am currently halfway book 4.
So I am now listening to them while I scrap as well. Also when I work out or just go for a walk by myself.

My conclusion?
Both podcasts and audiobooks are amazing. And are a GREAT companion while you're scrapping.
Give it a try. You'll love it.

So glad to hear the Digi Geek Podcast has come back! I wish Peppermint had one of her own as I loved the interaction she had with the others on the Digi Show. (Can I put this on my Wishlist???) I too listen to Paperclipping and sometimes even go back to an old episode as they keep it really on target for almost any kind of scrapper. I really really wish these two were weekly.

I also listen to KCRW's Good Food which makes me almost weep to hear what they have at the Santa Monica Farmers' Market each week, The Dinner Special (usually under a half hour), BBC's monthly World Book Club, also book related What Should I Read Next, then one of my faves The Moth with lots of fascinating stories.

I've tried a few podcasts and listening to audiobooks but audio is not the best way for me to receive information. I'm so much more strongly a visual person. When I try listening to something I get distracted by things I see around me and miss whatever audio is going on.

Funny evidence of this: I can entirely miss songs that are playing while I'm doing anything else. My daughter is always tuned in to music. There are times she'll comment on a song that just played and I had no idea it had just played.

I've tried listening to podcasts and books while I take my daily walk but either I keep getting distracted from the audio by the landscape and people and cars going by so I miss a lot of the story, or I feel unsafe as I'm trying so hard to pay attention to the audio that I'm in danger of injury because I'm unaware of my surroundings.

I love Podcasts. I listen in the car, when I run, and while I'm cleaning house.
The two scrappy podcasts I listen to are The Paperclipping Roundtable and The Scrap Gals Podcast.
I also enjoy The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey which is an interview podcast featuring women who are pursuing God and their passions, This American Life, Serial, and FamilyLife Today - about marriage/family/parenting. Every now and then I'll catch an episode of Stuff you Should Know.

There are others I've been wanting to try but haven't gotten around to yet. I will have to try some of the book related ones you mentioned @cookingmylife.
