I'm just curious. I am going through my templates, trying to organize them a bit, or apply some tags, and was shocked to see how many templates I had in my folders... My templates are sorted by number of photos. Just in my "1 photo" folder, I have almost 600. What?! I don't even know how I got all those. Lol!
I don't think I could count. I've been scrapping for Scrapping with Liz for a few years! Then add on free ones for the Template Challenge, Retired Designers, a slew of Fiddle Dee Dee lovlies, and then random ones.
I've got 589 template preview images and some of them are of multiple templates, so probably more than 600 But then I've amassed them over the past ten years, so that's only 60 templates per year, right?
I didn't actually count them... I looked at the number at the bottom of my folder. Like I said, that's just one of my templates folders. My main goal is trying to help reduce the choices when I start looking for which template to use. I can, and have, spent more time deciding on a template than actually scrapping the page! So when I start trying to look at what I have, so I can maybe categorize them some how, I was just staggered by how many I've collected. Lol! I regularly get at least 5/month between designers, challenges, etc. And I buy pretty ones. I still can't decide how to choose one! The separation by photo spots has saved me more time than it took to organize them in the first place, so I think further categories would be helpful, but. Yeah.... it's a lot!
I have so many. That's actually what I miss most from the Great EHD Crash of 2014. I had so many old templates that I'd go to for a jump start. **sniffle** Rest in peace ten year old templates, rest in peace.
Just in my TLP folder, doing a search for folders with "temp" in their names I get a result of 83. If I back out to my top level file, "Digiscrap Stash," the result is 304, but that is definitely lower than actual number of templates because I have a lot of folders with multiple templates inside.
Well, I'll just start with my templates . . . 220 sets at TLP at 4 templates per set = 880 Then there are all template sets that I still haven't brought to TLP and there are 318 of them at 4 templates per set = 1272 And there are the retired sets and there 176 of them at 4 templates per set = 704 So all that is 2856! Yikes! That doesn't count my template freebies and store collabs and such, nor does it account for all the templates I have from other designers! And the crazy and amazing thing is that I still have so many ideas for templates and new ways of making layouts!
This thread inspired me to make a layout. Just for fun I searched for my oldest templates by current TLP designers and found this one from Scrapping With Liz' Scrap Orchard days.
this is a bit embarrassing-- but I just went and looked, (and counted) and so far I've found 1186 templates (blush!)
I'm a template junkie. I have over 1500 just from TLP designers and probably double that on my old computer from various places, but I still want more! Thank goodness we have several FABULOUS template designers here at TLP to feed my template addiction. I know I have more templates than kits. Templates are the first thing I look for when the newsletters and sales come out. I think I have a medical condition...it's called template-collecto-itis! LOL
Alot, I did CT work for several template designers who have since retired plus many more over the past 7 years. I don't think I want to count them.
So, @KayTeaPea @HeatherB @keepscrappin @gonewiththewind With so many, how do you decide which one to use on any given layout?
@klee73010 Well, pretty much any of my templates are my style and so I'll just go for multiple photos or single photos, depending on my mood. I don't have them tagged that way right now (it's a work-in-progress), but I know most of my sets so I can grab what I need. I do tend to just scrap without a template, because loads of times those layouts feed creativity for me and help me make more templates!
@klee73010 Since I CT for a template designer, I usually just use the new releases to make my pages. When I am in the mood, I scroll through the template previews until I find something that fits the photos that I have, then go to the specific template folder. Most of my templates are of a particular style since the bulk of them are from one designer.
Oh I feel better, I don't have that many but I probably have half of yours so that's a lot. Don't think I'll count.
