PHOTOS!

Someone made a comment on one of my layouts where I used older photos and said they were surprised that with the amount of layouts that I make, that I have any older photos left to scrap. Ha! So I checked it out in Lightroom. I have made 2,735 layouts. And I have 87,554 photos. So that means I have approximately 84,819 photos left to scrap. I will scrap until the end of my days! Bwahahaha! I do have more photo culling to complete (it's an ongoing process), but I doubt I'll even cull down to half of the 87,554 photos. Oh wait! I still have some in DropBox and on my camera that I need to move over! LOL

So do you know how many layouts and photos you have? All I know is that I can buy buy buy and scrap scrap scrap! I see many long happy times scrapping my little heart out!!!!

I haven't a clue. Big problem is most of those photos are lost in a box somewhere. I'm just tackling 2014 and what didn't get scrapped. Don't think I'll break it down into how many photos are left! Interesting topic though. Mind boggling!

Oh so many variables, how long did the first ones take you, how much faster are you now having done those, number of photos to a page. It would only make it even more overwhelming to figure it out.But you aren't alone! 2700 is remarkable however!

I don't have my scrapbook pages all in Lightroom, so I'm not sure how many of those I have. I've only been importing them into Lightroom since last year and that comes to 238 pages. And the older pages are not organized in a way that makes them easy to count (all PSDs, printables, and web versions in the same folders, along with some other related things.) I've been scrapping a lot since 2007, so if we choose a nice round 100 as the average per year (which would be low for the first several years and too high for 2013-2014 when I nearly stopped scrapping) then I estimate I've made a 1000 pages. Wow, I've never calculated that before. :D

As for photos, I do have all of the photos I've ever taken in Lightroom (plus a few from childhood that I didn't take) and that number is currently 140,605.

Nope. I'll never scrap all my photos. :rollin

More importantly, are all your pages printed? All of mine from before 2016, possibly excepting a few, are printed in photobooks. I usually print annually.

That's one of the areas I'm working on Michele -- are they all printed. I have to figure out which year books are done, or in process. Working on 2014 -- or thinking of working on 2014. I need a way to keep track of what's been scrapped. I don't have Lightroom. Oops make that 2015 (also working on vacation of 2014).

That's the good thing about printing pages annually. I just compile all that year's pages into the book.

As for photos, I guess I have a good visual memory and remember which photos I've scrapped. Or did you mean remembering to scrap everything? I don't worry about that. Because it would be impossible. And I don't mind if something doesn't get scrapped because plenty is.

I seem to be as easygoing about my scrapbooks as in much of the rest of my life!

You know what's funny? I commented on this fun LO just the other day and I wanted to jokingly say that you must be running out of pics if you're creating 80s photo shoots! Now I know you are definitely NOT running out of pics. :giggle

To answer your question, IDK how many pics or LOs I have but I know it's not that many. :) I'd love to scan old pics, though, which would up my number!

hmmm... that's an interesting question @gonewiththewind . I don't know exactly how many layouts I've scrapped, but I do know it's a lot. And like you I'm sure to not run out of photos to scrap any time in the near future. LOL

I was thinking of vacation scenery pics, and just some everyday ones. Last year was chaos and my memory was in chaos too. And it's 2015 I'm doing actually (I wrote 2014). Yeah doing them all would be impossible!

I'm only in the 400 range as to LOs I've scrapped. And I know I looked and had almost 400 photos for a month/similar short time span... so I know I have plenty. There's always more to come, too. :D
I haven't scanned in this box of photos I have next to me from pre-digital age, but I have almost every digital picture since 2004 on my hard drive. I rarely delete anything. Even the bad ones the kids take of their fingers, with just a sliver of the ceiling showing through. :giggle That's a project for some other crazy time.

I figure I've only printed about 200 single pages and then another 100-200 in photo books. WOEFULLY behind. As I was looking at this today, I told my hubby, "I'm letting go of these needed to be chronological. I don't scrap that way, and I want everyone to enjoy them as much as I do." So I'm going to start printing photo books! Woo-Hoo!

p.s. Looking at your screenshot again I see we organize photos almost exactly the same way :D

For some reason, your images aren't showing up for me?

In Lightroom, I mark the photos that have been scrapped by color coding them purple. BUT, I also keep an Excel sheet that shows me what I took photos of by date, and then I insert thumbnails of the layouts. When an event is complete, then I gray through the row to show that it's finished. You could do something similar in a word processing program as well. Here's what a portion of the sheet looks like:

Bwahahaha! Nope! That was my daughter during her Junior Year. For Homecoming Week, they had dress up days, and one of them was Decade Day. Juniors were assigned the 80's. We scrounged through her closet for everything you see there . . . it was quite fun to find out that she had so much that would pass for the 80's. LOL (For her Senior Year, they were given the 20's for Decade Day, and we had a mini photo shoot for that day as well.)

@gonewiththewind You are organized! But that would help me. I may try to do similar. Much of the time because I don't use Lightroom or any other program I will put an x in front of the file name when I scrap it. I just didn't start that until the end of the year. I like your idea to start from now on and then catch up later. Thanks for the help.

If my way doesn't suit, just keeping looking around or make your own way ~ my way keeps evolving anyway. LOL

That is crazy! I'd get going on 2012. That looked like a banner photo taking year for you. haha I don't even want to know how many photos I have on my computer. Luckily we didn't go digital until child #6 in 2003 so I don't have to count the paper ones still sitting in a box right? lol
