WELCOME BACK ART JOURNALERS!

On Feb 1st I thought I subscribed to this thread, but apparently it was the Art Journal forum. So I haven't been getting updates :cry, other than the challenge for the shadow box. So last night I started creating my box (it would have helped if I knew boxes were going to be included in SOSN - which I did purchase this a.m.). But anyway, I created a box last night & it doesn't look too shabby if I have to say so myself. I'm in the process of filling my little cubicles, so when that is done, I will share. Unfortunately I don't know if I have my settings saved (but Dalis's inner shadow worked really well once I had the structure done). I used a background paper from Etc. by Danyale that looked like wood. It was a freebie, from her At a Glance kit. I started out by creating wooden slats, cutting sections of the paper 1/2" by 11 1/2" (I scrap in 8.5 x 11). I moved them around to create the partitions & outside edge, put an embossed style on each one to make it more rounded. Added the same background paper behind it and then used Dalis' suggestions for the inner shadow. Saved it all as a .png file & then brought it in to my new page which isn't quite done yet. Whew!

@mcurtt , Marilyn, no worries! So glad you joined us... we are all learning, and sharing what we learned. I have been wanting to work on these and never done so. Of course, the logical thing to do is make it into a challenge so I have to "force" myself to grab some time and PLAY!

So, happy you grabbed Paula's boxes from SOSN! We will be working on a different box EVERY week of the month! FUN!!!!!!

sad, not many real looking things in store, that i wanted in my box

Hi all, here is mine. Since it is an art journal page, I've titled it "Who am I?" I've included a thimble (I've got over 2500), I :heartslub my dog, and I'm a big tea drinker. Showing casual, work & dress-up. But dress-up doesn't happen... Credits are in the gallery.

You ladies are blowing me away! I should be in bed, but I just download a gazillion zip files to play!

@Cath_ , those are amazing.... now, I hope you don't mind but would you try the following settings for your metal findings? These are my favorite shadow settings when adding metal items to my pages:

This one when the item is like a coin or something flat,
Distance: 18 (or 20)
Size: 25

This one when the metal piece has more substance,
Distance: 25
Size: 25

after i take a bath, and unzip the box again i saved over the template first save

@Dalis this type of things, i am looking into a box

Cath, you did this? Wow it's looking good. Dalis has some good idea for thee shadows and you found some good stuff. I really like it. Playing with shadows and angles will work wonders with this.
