It works really well with a solid color, or if you clip a paper just to the very back (not the beveled parts). I think it looks more realistic than the inner shadow. I made my sides have a pattern, which takes more work, but it was fun. Can't post till tomorrow, though :)

I haven't tried beveled, I might next week when I have a bit of time.

Well i know I cheated a bit on this one, but I don't track my challenges anyway. I had a template that I have been meaning to try, so I used it. (it isn't a lily pad designer, but everything else on the layout is lillypad)
Here's my layout

@catschwartz , btw. Welcome to AJ land here at TLP!!!!

I don't see how you cheated... plus here in Art Journaling land we hardly ever follow the rules except for the 50% TLP items... Your template only counts as 15% so you are GOOD!

You ladies can blame the extra homework on the gals above!

Jeeze, thanks ladies!! :circles I've got a lot going on this month, but will need something to keep me sane, so I'm still going to try to keep up with this, and the regular monthly challenges. Wish me luck!!

You can do it. We aren't as tough in Art Journal land except the 50% TLP rule. This is where you get to play and not be perfect.

oh that wonderful aj, forgot this is aj, so dad's look into toolbox ain't gonna cut it

yes it will AJ can be anything. The keys worked so why not dad's toolbox, especially since it's connected to feelings and memories. It also means if you can find the exact thing you can use a tag or if you want to remember something about one of the items you can add tags, or "do not touch" whatever you want.

I was just trying to find a definition for art journal -- mostly paper art journaling is what I found but the sites I looked at all said it was about combining art and words, self-expression, no rules. Definitely go for it. It sounds like it's a really good topic. I just loved this kit by Danyale but I want to do some more personal ones. (actually there is personal in the one by Danyale, but it's not jump out at you. Go for the tool box! (add paint, gesso, tags, "art journal-y" things if you want but you don't need to).

Can you share your tricks or steps? It looks amazing!
I will later... I am not on my laptop... I will do step by step :)

Paula's are real nice. I have a real one hanging on my wall :) Also I have another designer (Mo Jackson) [I used to be on her team years ago] and I have several printers boxes etc. from her that I love, but it wouldn't go with the challenge as I would want to fill it with all of her goodies :)I do love Paula's though. It is great too at that price!!
