I went on a major research this morning...and I already know that LIghtroom and I do not get along. So, I am gonna stay with my CS5, and will wait this out...

I think I operate much like you Anne - I actually do have the CC (PS/LR), and I have never used Bridge, and LR and I never got along either. I find it much more efficient to just drag in my photo from where they load onto in my computer, and go from there. Any photo editing I do (which is generally minimal because I am just not super picky about my photos), I do in Photoshop with one of my actions! I got super confused in LR with even basic editing, so I am sticking with what I know in CC. I didn't notice a huge learning curve though to CC from CS5 - it is actually kind of nice that I keep getting the little upgrades, without having to buy a new upgrade.

I could hug you right now Amanda! my hands were actually sweating and the anxiety I caused myself thinking about LR again was ridiculous. I don't wanna do something before I do something...bhahhah,
I write in ink the dates of my photos, and then the event or titles of photos, for pages. I seriously have begun to scrap very much in 3 month increments. NOw and again, something else pops up. But I am addicted to printing pages and I have a ton of photos to choose from also.
I will sit at appointments and just peruse the list of photos for page opportunities and think about scrapping! lol I can't do that with my desktop! lol I get ideas and sketch them out, and the joy I get with that is Priceless!

I've been using Lightroom since 2011. I love the many ways to organize and processing pictures is just an easy matter of sliding some sliders. Plus, I love being able to select several photos that were taken in the same place with the same settings and process them all at the same time.

I used PSE until last spring. Then I started subscribing to the $9.99 photographer's version of Adobe CC, with just Lightroom and PS. I think the push was there is a rumor that Lightroom may eventually only be available in the cloud. I still don't know whether that will come true.

Turns out that even though I was content with PSE, the additional abilities in PS have been great.

If I see questions posted about Lightroom, I will try to help.

I avoided changing to CC @AnneofAlamo just because I don't like the idea of "renting" software, but you can still just buy Lightroom and keep whatever version of PS you're comfortable with along with it (I use CS6).

Lightroom is seriously the single most important tool in my scrapbooking, and I promise it is not scary at all once you learn the workflow. I even use it to organize my digi supplies, and it's awesome for that as well as photos! And this is coming from someone who HATED Lightroom the first time I used it- it took someone sitting down with me and showing me how awesome it is for me to understand why I needed it.

I used to CT for a paper scrapbooking store that is now closed, and I did a video for their YouTube channel showing how I use Lightroom for my Project Life and regular scrapbooking photo workflow. There are major portions of it that deal with printing (since I was a paper scrapper at the time), but if you skip to 19:11 I talk about organizing, and I talk about editing at 23:56. Somewhere around 29:00 I start talking about printing, which won't be of interest to digital scrapbookers.

A couple of little things have changed since then- I use a Smart Collection and Pick Flags now to group my photos automatically by week (and just the photos I've chosen for that week), and I use the Replichrome presets by Totally Rad to edit. And of course I don't print any more, I just export.

Oh, and I've started using the Book module since I started scrapping digitally, and I use it to pull in finished layouts and arrange them in a photobook. From Lightroom you can upload directly to Blurb, or you can export a PDF that you can upload elsewhere.

Seriously, I could go on and on about Lightroom- it's amazing!

I don't even know what version of CS I have, but it's just too much for me. I keep using PSE13, cuz I'm comfortable with it. I forced myself to use CS for puppet warp last year, and promptly shut it down when done. Li Li helped me fix some photos a while back with LR & they were gorgeous. So, I do kinda want to try it.

I don't use Bridge either, Anne. It's not wrong to scrap without Bridge! There are a million ways to do everything in Photoshop. Besides, you'll be bringing your photos over from Lightroom when I'm done with you

I do use Bridge to batch rename files, but that is it. If I try to do a search in Bridge, I might as well just toss my laptop out the window. It is so so slow as to be unusable.

When I first got it, I found a step-by-step getting started guide. I think it was from Kathleen Kennedy? But it would be really outdated now, I'm sure. It was even old when I found it. But once I got to the end I was in total love with LR! Maybe try looking up guides from Lightroom Queen or Lesa Snyder to help you get your bearings.

I really like to read this, I bought lightroom, but I ripped it out of my laptop again, because I hated it!!! lightroom was busy for hours uploading just 1 SD card and okay, I gave up at that moment already. Nobody told me it could take days for Lightroom to insert all the pictures let alone my digiscrap stash...
