What's it called? Pop/Soda/Coke

What do you call carbonated beverages?

Soda is my general term, but since I ONLY drink Diet Coke I voted for Coke.

I'm opposite and like Pepsi better, :giggle ... when that happens, do you change your mind and order a different soda?

Yes. I'll get one of the clear or orange ones if it's not Coke. Or lingonberry if I'm in Sweden. :D

When we are out to eat and my Hubby orders a Diet Coke and they ask if Pepsi is okay... he asks if Monopoly money is okay. :giggle

I forgot about soft drink. And I never heard of Fizzy drink before. I love that. Maybe I'll pretend to be British and say that from now on. Lol!

Ha! Brilliant :thumbsups

Lately, we call it a drink. As in I'm going to the drink store, do you want one?
But soda is what I've called it for years. Just can't vote on my phone.

Well, I usually call the product by the brand name, like Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi. Out of the options, I say Coke more than anything.

I'm from the South and everyone calls it all Coke. But I always thought that was silly, because clearly, a Dr. Pepper is NOT a coke, and I picked up Soda from a friend who was not from around my parts. ;)

Definitely. I can't handle Pepsi, so I'll order Mt. Dew, or if they don't have that, I'll go for root beer. Some places I'll get a Pibb instead of Coke. Most of the time lately, I know which restaurants carry which, so I'm prepared. :giggle

It's all Coke! Even though I drink Diet Coke. Of course, in a restaurant I order it as Diet Coke but I'm still drinking a "coke". And at home, it's all Coke... whether Dr. Pepper or Sprite. LOL.

Oh and I hear you all about "Is Pepsi OK?" Seriously? No. Just no. LOL. I will change my order to water when there is no Coke, and I try to avoid fast food places that only sell Pepsi.

In general terms, it's Pop where I come from :) When ordering from a restaurant, it's whatever the actual name is...Coke, Pepsi, Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper, etc. I grew up drinking only Pepsi products because a family member owned the local Pepsi bottling company and we weren't ever even allowed to say the "C" word in his presence LOL. I much prefer coke these days.

I'm an Aussie - so the Brit influence ia strong here - it was Fizzy Drink as a kid and we'd call it soft drink now (clearly we prefer the hard stuff down under!!).

Definitely pop here... We even got called out on it in Florida. Our waiter asked us if we were Canadian. Although the French accents sure helped! lol!

Never soda (unless it's a club soda or creaming soda) and certainly never pop (that's what the grandkids used to call my Dad). Calling it Coke is fairly common though.

We have taken to calling it Fizz lately but mostly it's just soft drinks.

I love all these variations! So cool to hear the differences! :)

just seeing this. i'm east coast so it's soda generally speaking, but i have been known to call the dark cola "coke" regardless if coke/pepsi when ordering at a restaurant.

love the monopoly money bit, that is funny!

I call it soda now but growing up everything was coke.

Actual conversation from my childhood-
"I'd like a coke."
"What kind of coke?"
"A Dr. Pepper coke, please."

hahaha so weird right?

I don't that is weird at all! I had that conversation just yesterday. LOL!

Creaming soda? Okay, so I just had to search this, and I can't tell what it is. :giggle I thought at first it would just be the same as what Americans call cream soda, but I'm seeing all these berry flavors and even one that's blue?! I have so much to learn! :giggle
